William Shatner ... Admiral James T. Kirk Leonard Nimoy ... Mr. Spock DeForest Kelley ... Dr. Leonard 'Bones' McCoy James Doohan ... Cmdr. Montgomery 'Scotty' Scott George Takei ... Lt. Cmdr. Hikaru Sulu Majel Barrett ... Dr. Christine Chapel Walter Koenig ... Lt. Pavel Chekov Nichelle Nichols ... Lt. Cmdr. Uhura Persis Khambatta ... Lt. Ilia Stephen Collins ... Cmdr. Willard Decker Grace Lee Whitney ... CPO Janice Rand Mark Lenard ... Klingon Captain Billy Van Zandt ... Alien Boy Roger Aaron Brown ... Epsilon Technician Gary what does this say about me?a ... Airlock Technician
when i saw this movie for the first, i liked it, but thought i would love it. i knew nothing about the last minute-ness of it, but it just didn't hold up well for me, despite seeing it twice in the theater. heck, i almost fell asleep the second time.
now, with the director's version, it's much better. despite the tools who wanted to replace every effects shot with cg, they held them to what needed to be done.
a much better movie.

My brother worked at the theater where it premiered in our town and he was sitting with me while we were watching it. One of his workmates found him and told him our parents had called to say our next door neighbor (who had babysat me and my brothers as we grew up) had died. I didn't know until after the movie was over because my bro didn't want to spoil the movie for me. But it's still what I remember most about it.
That and seeing those Klingon ships doing their initial pass. THAT was cool.
Who knew that 12 years down the road I'd be working on one of those movies. I sure didn't at the time.

Favorite moment in any of the Star Trek movies was in "Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home", when you had Scotty innocently talking to a 1980s Mac and not knowing any better! ;D

I am a big fan of the first movie, in particular. I enjoyed the original version when I saw it in the theatre--unfinished as it was; and the Director's Version just refines and perfects it, and I consider it a legitimate replacement. I did a little bit of work on Star Trek 6 (on the Paramount lot!), which was a big thrill.

William Shatner ... Admiral James T. Kirk Leonard Nimoy ... Captain Spock DeForest Kelley ... Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy James Doohan ... Cmdr. Montgomery "Scotty" Scott Walter Koenig ... Pavel Chekov George Takei ... Hikaru Sulu Nichelle Nichols ... Cmdr. Uhura Bibi Besch ... Dr. Carol Marcus Merritt Butrick ... Dr. David Marcus Paul Winfield ... Capt. Clark Terrell Kirstie Alley ... Lt. Saavik Ricardo Montalban ... Khan Noonien Singh Ike Eisenmann ... Midshipman Peter Preston John Vargas ... Jedda John Winston ... Cmdr. Kyle Paul Kent ... Lt. Cmdr. Beach Nicholas Guest ... Cadet Russell Takaki ... Madison Kevin Rodney Sullivan ... March (as Kevin Sullivan) Joel Marstan ... Crew Chief Teresa E. Victor ... Bridge voice (voice) Dianne Harper ... Radio voice (voice) David Ruprecht ... Radio voice (voice) Marcy Vosburgh ... Computer voice (voice) Laura Banks ... Khan's navigator (uncredited) Steve Bond ... Khan`s Crewman #1 (uncredited) Brett Baxter Clark ... Khan`s Crewman #2 (uncredited) Tim Culbertson ... Khan's henchman (uncredited) John Gibson ... Khan`s Crewman #4 (uncredited) James Horner ... Enterprise crewman (uncredited) Dennis Landry ... Khan`s Crewman #5 (uncredited) Cristian Letelier ... Khan`s Crewman #6 (uncredited) Roger Menache ... Khan`s Crewman #7 (uncredited) Judson Earney Scott ... Joachim Weiss (uncredited)
now this was far more to my liking (originally) than the first movie. action, suspense, death, the entire crew got to shine, rather than just "the big three plus guest star" and it's also quite humorous.
Commander Kyle is the same actor who played him in 11 of the tv episodes, which was a nice touch. Jud Scott later essayed the role of "The Phoenix" in a short lived sci-fi adventure show.
i really like this movie, and still do.

I love the STAR TREK movies! Have all the original cast films on pre-record VHS (guess I'll have to upgrade em to DVD eventually - they've got a complete box set at DeepDiscount).
I saw mostly all of them in the theater when they first came out. Each different in their own way, I enjoy them all.

i saw the first four in the theaters, then the abysmal "Generations" and the much better FIRST CONTACT and the next movie.
i highly recommend the DVDs, since they have some interesting material, instead of the useless filler that most newer double disc sets include these days.
you can find most of the DVDs for about $10 per, or the set is nice as well.

I saw all of the original cast Star Trek movies and Generations in the theater. I haven't seen the others at all, I have no interest in the Politically Correct Generation films. Star Trek and Star Wars are the only series of films I've actually seen in theaters. I still haven't seen Spider-Man 3 so I can't say that I've seen all of that film series.
Wrath of Khan is my favorite Star Trek movie and the only one I have on DVD. I picked up VHS tapes of the first (director's cut) and third from overstock.com for $1 each.

William Shatner ... Admiral James T. Kirk Leonard Nimoy ... Capt. Spock/Elevator Voice (as Frank Force) DeForest Kelley ... Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy James Doohan ... Montgomery "Scotty" Scott George Takei ... Hikaru Sulu Walter Koenig ... Pavel Chekov Nichelle Nichols ... Cmdr. Uhura Merritt Butrick ... Dr. David Marcus Phil Morris ... Trainee Foster Scott McGinnis ... Mr. Adventure Robin Curtis ... Lt. Saavik Robert Hooks ... Adm. Morrow Carl Steven ... Spock...Age 9 Vadia Potenza ... Spock...Age 13 Stephen Manley ... Spock...Age 17
i don't think i've seen this movie since the first and only time i saw it in the theater, in the summer of '84. i remember a friend of mine remarked she thought this one was pretty far-fetched, which made the rest of us laugh.
i watched this one with the text commentary on, and that was fun. wish i had done it for the others, since maybe then i would learn why she was referred to as "Mr." Saavik. the new actress was good, but not quite Kirsty.
Merrick Butrick was also Johnny Slash on "Square Pegs".

I really like Number III. Christopher Lloyd as Kruge is great! A deliciously evil, yet funny combatant for Kirk. The expression on his face when he says, " Put him onscreen" always cracks me up. "Genesis! I want it!!" "But I've only got Nintendo!."

wow, that's some cast list.
this is probably my favorite of the movies, since it combines so many of the great elements of the series. plus it was filmed in several places i've actually been. the onscreen text commentary is funny as well as informative. i listened to a bit of the audio commentary, which was very good also.

I thought it was enjoyable, though not my favorite it's probably in my top 3. And yeah, I used to live a couple of blocks from GG Park and have been to most of the locations except for the Monterey Aquarium. I've even been to Alameda, with the Nuclear Wessles. In fact BAFEs first show the "Dynamation Celebration" was in Alameda at the ex-bases' ex-theater.

Lots of great humor in IV. I love when Spock attempts to swear.

this was good, but not great. not like the fanboys tend to say, anyway. still, the last 1/3 of the movie is a lot of fun, and the ending is quite bittersweet.

i can't believe i haven't seen this for 14 years, since i was disappointed in my initial viewing. too much Next Gen, not enough Star Trek, and not even enough time with the two captains together.
still, it was better this time than the first, though all the worst of Next Gen is here- Picard being a great "actor" and emotional and surly and all that crap, bad decisions abound. Shatner outdoes Stewart completely as a captain and gives a great "final" performance, and proves what he says in ST5 as well.
he's really THE Captain of the Enterprise.

I like Undiscovered Country, of course that's the one that I worked on. Back when CGI was still just for effects in movies, and not whole scenes.
Generations didn't do much for me, though it is a heck of a lot better than Nemesis, that last one that Frakes directed. That was like a lackluster tv episode, so I don't even know why they made it at all.
