I got my order from Creepy Classics. The tv movie "Count Dracula" is a DVD-R, which they didn't even bother to label. It is in a labeled DVD case but the disk itself is unlabled. The tv movie "The Picture of Dorian Gray" is a commercial DVD, complete with ISBN and UPC numbers and shrink wrapped.
Would it hurt the DVD-R if I took a permenant marker and wrote "Count Dracula" on it?

it shouldn't. i used to stick labels on my DVDrs, but now i've just started to label them with a marker. there has been some controversy about labels being safe or causing disc rot. things i had never heard of before, but apparently there were issues with laser discs in the past.

this is a nice looking DVD! it's got unused scenes, a not from Arnold "Doom Patrol" Drake, outtakes and a good print. what a movie! for $16, it's a good investment.

Best Buy has The Flesh Eaters on DVD for $15.99. It's from Dark Sky Films not Retromedia. The description says "Released in various censored incarnations over the years, it is presented here in the original cleavage-baring and gore-drenched theatrical version." Special Features - Deleted Nazi Experiments Sequence
- Theatrical Trailers
- Outtakes
Seems to be region free.

Yep, the Dark Sky release is region-free and presented in anamorphic widescreen. Sadly, the film itself hasn't held up for me since the last viewing. The huge monster at the end did give me nightmares as a child, but upon a fresh viewing I found the film rather dull, and it seemed like the flesh eaters were on-screen for about 17 seconds.
I know you have to suspend disbelief to enjoy these movies, but man are those castaways from the plane amazingly stupid. They buy every lame excuse that the Mad Nazi Scientist feeds them when bad things happen, and it made me want to scream at the screen.
On the plus side, it was pretty graphic for the time, and there was plenty of camera time for scantily-clad ladies. The film itself looks great too. All in all, however, kind of a disappoint for me. I would've felt better if I paid $5-6 for it instead of $13. Oh well.

i like it, except that the color sequence is NOT on this version. it happens when he sticks the blood into the monster- the screen goes completely red for a moment. a cool and surprising effect after all the black and white.

I just watched it. The ending didn't make sense to me. They eat flesh but blood poisones them?

well, you can't apply TOO much logic- perhaps in the water they can avoid the blood while just eating the flesh? the world may never know.
still, i really like this movie, and have now heard the color sequence was added later on. guess we will never know.
i do wish that i could get a copy of Retro Media's version, if only to hear the commentary.
