Anyone watch Raw tonight?During a match involving Edge Jerry the King Lawler accidentally gave away the winner of the main event at Baclash.Him and J.R. tried to backpedal but the cat is out of the bag, unless they decide to go the other way just to surprise the fans but that means the writers will have to write new material that is supposed to cover various months so I doubt that will happen.

i was wondering about that. i've heard rumors of a Hell in a Cell match with HHH and Dave, so i'm not surprised.
i sure miss the days when people didn't know everything that was going to happen- title switches were a complete surprise (and so much rarer back then).

I am guessing that they felt that Triple H ALWAYS as champ was becoming a liability. It became the HULK HOGAN SYNDROME.Everyone knew Hulk was gonna walk away from the ring with the title so people simply lost interest. The same seems to have happened here and WWE may be trying to keep the audience watching by bringing in a new face as THE STAR.Plus Batista is a WWE made name and not someone made famous by WCW,which explains why Booker T will never be allowed to be a major star.

oh yeah, people are sick of him always being the champ- he wants to be Ric Flair so much it's not funny.
it's too bad about Booker, i've been a fan of his for a long time. you'd think he'd get fed up, but it seems like so many of them are just there for the $$ and that's it. if Booker went to TNA he and Jarrett could re-visit their WCW fued.
sooner or later some of these guys will get tired of just being glorified jobbers to wwe guys and leave. i hear Jericho hasn't signed a new contract recently either.

It doesn't bother me so much that Triple H is always the champ. What bothers me is the fact that when he does actually lose the title, he gets another boring ass 20 minute promo and we don't hear or see hide nor hair from the new champ. Even when Flair was always the champ, the show did not completely reveolve around him. What is hurting WWE is the fact they focus on no one other than Triple H. They have the potential to have a great tag division. Used to be fans would turn in to see not only Flair, but The Road Warriors, Midnight Express, Arn&Tully, Rock and Roll Express, Rude&Fernandez, The Varsity Club etc. WWE whizes all over their Tag Division, Cruiser Division, anyone not bonking Vince's Daughter or friends of said guy. It is ridiculous. nepotism has hurt wrestling so bad throughout the years and it seems to be doing the same now. Trips needs to put his ego aside and go to Smackdown. They could use his star value and it would be noice to see a whole new roster to job to him all the time, unless they are his friends.

Ok as far as Booker goes he will never really crawl out of midcard status because he was made by WCW and Vince won't put over someone else's creation. And as for Booker going to TNA it would be more of the same since Jarrett is the owner and thus will always be the champ.
Triple H is promoted heavily not only because he is the boss's son in law,but a WWE star. The WWE made him. They can't even say the same thing about Hogan who was established BEFORE he became the WWE's golden monkey in the eighties. If it wasn't for ROCKY 3 he would have probably never been given the ball, but then again wrestling would have been a whole lot different.
So as far as Jerciho,Benoit, and anyone else who became an established star BEFORE WWE well they will always have the INTERCONTINENTAL title,or the TAG TEAM titles, etc.Batista may be given a really big push since again he is made by the WWE,no other promotion made him a household name.Ditto Sheldon Benjamin and even Edge has the opportunity to actually become someone of importance in the WWE.If they are made as stars in the company then the possibilities are definately there.

i enjoyed what i saw of tonight's show- some really good matches, all in all, i think. nice to see Rosie and the Hurricane actually have the straps.
and it was a surprise to see HHH tap- wonder how that will go! at least it's a pleasant surprise.

Well I have heard rumors that Stephanie Mcmahon has left her position on the writing staff so HHH may be losing his say with the creative teams behind the angles they concoct.Plus it's possible he might be going off to make another movie and can't be doing that and being the WWE's top dog at the same time.
By the way, where is Randy Orton?

Randy is having shoulder surgery, if i remember correctly. then he will return as a heel, i would think. i hope HHH is off making another lousy movie!

Hopefully without HHH around for a few weeks the other guys will be able to shine. But like I've said, unless you are a homemade star like Batista or Edge, there is little chance of anyone else becoming a star.Look at two years ago:They made a bunch of hooplah about bringing in Scott Steiner and Bill Goldberg, but wait these guys were made by Ted Turner's company.Use them as maineventers for a month and then dump them in midcard. After all the noise they made about bringing those two into RAW they vanished after a few weeks. So any hopes of guys like Booker T,Chris Benoit,Chris Jericho,Eddie Guerrero,Rey Misterio, and even Ric Flair getting the chance to carry the WWE is practically nonexistent.

Does anyone know why CARLITO dropped the CARRIBEAN COOL part of his name?? It was so much (pardon the pun) "cooler" then plain old Carlito.

Well alot of people's gimmicks are being refined plus the whole "cool" thing was overdoen with Michelle Mcool,Carribean Cool,Mexicool, cool beverage, etc.
And as far as gimmicks goes, word has it that Hassan has been fired due to the recent London attacks.Apparantly Hassan's gimmick was a bit too much even for WWE fans.

i gotta say i don't miss those long boring HHH promos. i like Carlito, but wish the whole Stone Cold Cena thing would go away, much like the Rey/Eddie angle.
"Hassan" may have been fired, but the Italian worker playing him was not. it was a poorly thought out gimmick in the first place, and really bad timing just made it go away. he was pretty good, but i really won't miss Hassan, that's for sure.

Yeah his real name is MARK COPANI (AKA Mark Magnus). It's funny that an Italian Buddist was playing an Arab Muslim.
And Carlito does indeed rock! Apparently he's well liked backstage. It seems he's a very laid back, very respectful kind of guy.
Which seems to be a stark contrast to the average prick/huge ego persoanlites alot of these wrestlers apparently have.
Good for him. I hope they keep pushing him and not turn him into a Val Venus/Simon Dean style of jobber.

He has one thing going for him,he is the son of legendary Carlos Colon, the Hulk Hogan or Santo of the Carribean which explains why he's been getting such a big push since he entered the WWE.Just don't ever expect him to be a maineventer.

well, he's good at being a heel, but sooner or later of course he'll be a face- once it becomes "cool" to do so.
i didn't even know Simon Dean was Nova until it was pointed out he was doing double duty these days.

Whose Nova?

Post by RoadWarriorYajuta on Aug 4, 2005 11:52:04 GMT -8
Nova and Somon Dean are both portrayed by Mike Bucci. He is the guy in the BWO that is spoofing Hollywood Hogan's run from the NWO. Nova's biggest success came in ECW. He had that whole superhero gimmick before Hurricane did. The sad thing is the guy is a dman good wrestler. He isn't allowed to show it with either gimmick. If it was Nova as Nova, not Hollywood Nova, then he would shine, but he is a comedy wrestler in that spot.

yeah, i saw a few of his matches with Jerry Lynn (i think) and they were pretty good. he does a good job as Simon, but since he's a JTTS, he won't ever get very far.
