re-reading Cap v. 3, which is where Stan stops scripting and Steve Englehart ends up, with the fake 50s Cap storyline (well, the first one, anyway). while i like Stan's stuff on his early comics, he was trying to do too much by now, and the scripts were suffering, becoming too whiny and soapy.
i mean, enough with the Bucky stories. speaking of which, i've heard they have brought him back. how lame. Bucky and Uncle Ben were the only two characters that ever stayed dead (did Gwen return also?). no wonder i never read new comics.
some great art here, though!

reading the Ms Marvel collection, and until the last few stories (after it was canceled) it was pretty good. though i can't quite for the life me remember why i thought Chris Claremont was a great writer. his Avengers vs the Brotherhood story at the end of this is OK, until he gets to whine about what happened to Ms Marvel in the Avengers. i mean, really. wonder where Byrne learned that little trick?
still, it was a good idea, but quite obvious they had no real idea where to go with the character at first.

got the Ghost Rider second set today. it's pretty good, though Johnny is about to go through some changes. it goes to issue 50, which is the team up between the original Ghost Rider and the current one. which i quite enjoyed at the time.

got Team Up v. 2, which has several stories i've read, but lots i completely missed. wonder what i was reading then? i really enjoy these team ups though. i wish they had explored the friendship between Spidey and the Torch a little more, or had an issue where Spidey just talks to all the heroes he's teamed up with here and there. that would have been fun.
i also have Thor v. 3, which lets Stan be as epically verbose as he can be, but balanced out by Jack's artwork. Asgard goes from village to space age city in this one. Odin is just slightly shy of being God though by now, which is kinda silly.
Two in One v. 1 is headed my way, and i have FF v. 7, though i need to pick up v. 6 before i can read that one.

I just read "Team-Up" vol 2 myself, one of my favorite Marvel titles ever. I especially loved the story arc with Spidey, the Frankenstein Monster and ManWolf! That was very cool and probably the closest to a Santo style adventure Marvel ever produced! I got both vols of Spider-Woman for Christmas (along with Batgirl vol1-but she belongs in the Showcase thread!) and have started vol1. She was always one of my favorite characters as a kid-I love her costume-such a great design! I never really read her book as a kid (believe it or not, I didn't read many superhero comics as a kid, I'm much more into them today than I was then-as a kid I mainly read horror comics, though I was always a big fan of Spidey and Batman), and I'm surprised at how dark the storyline is-there is alot of supernatural and horror-style stuff going on! So far I'm still reading her ongoing intro story arc from Marvel Spotlight (or Marvel Premiere) and Marvel 2 in 1, but from what I did see looking through both books, Morgan le Fey is a regular villian and Werewolf By Night is a frequent guest star!

got the third and final volume of X-Men (original series) which ends abruptly despite Thomas and Adams run on it (great artwork, adequate stories). it has the Beast solo stories where he mutates himself further, and a few guest shots here and there to even things up.
i really enjoyed vol. 2, but not so much this one. i expected to like it a lot more than i did. it's odd, i enjoyed the Beast's stories the most.

Currently on MARVEL TEAM UP VOL THREE. Has the first appearance of Captain Britain and Arcade as well as a Spidey Iron Man team up where they battle Whiplash, the villain in Iron Man 2.

they had to leave out the Red Sonja story, due to not having the rights any more to either her or Kulan Gath. wonder how that affected the sequel in the X-men?Attachments:

Avengers v. 7 has the stories when I started really collecting the series, though I missed several in the 150s. had a straight run from 162 to about 220 or so.

I loved the Avengers. When things pick up I really should pick up the Avengers and Defenders Essentials books.
