Kojiro Hongo ... Lord Juro Shiho Fujimura ... Lady Sayuri Taro Marui Takashi Kanda Riki Hashimoto ... Majin Jutaro Hojo
i saw this a few weeks after the first Majin movie, so i knew more of what to expect. i kind of like this one more though, just seems to be a better movie. love the scene where he parts the water, very impressive.
i naively assumed that the third one would be on tv sometime soon.

While I tend to think that the first Majin movie had the best special effects, this one is actually my favorite of the trio.
Yes, all three have that familiar theme of that evil warlord treating his people harshly but eventually getting his comeuppance by Majin. Yet, I like the story the best, where this time, the evil warlord wants to conquer not one, but two provinces, both separated by a lake and right in the middle is the island where the stone figure of Majin resides and which also provides a safe haven. For me, that built up a little more tension than the previous story. Plus seeing Kojiro Hongo, (from the Gamera movies), that added familiar face to the series. But of course, the real star is Majin and he looks just as good as before.

I honestly think the films would have been better if they had an enemy monster for Daimajin to defeat.Perhaps some evil demon a warlord could summon with some kind of sacrifice?

i agree, though i think the more kid-centric 3rd film would have been a better place for it, since they offed one of the wee ones in that one anyway. would have been cool!

Hey everyone,
This here second Daimajin flick is just as good as the first -
Somewhat better in a way but hard to point out exactly how.
Daimajin was rumoured to be slated for an update I heard in the late 90's set in MODERN TIMES and supposedly gonna go at it with some Black Dragon-thingy (Supposedly similar to Manda from Atragon) So, ... Can anyone verify this? I heard it back in the day from more than one source/person.

According to an interview Shushuke Kaneko gave which appeared in G-FAN that was indeed the case but DAEI decided instead to revive the Gamera franchise, probably because it was the more commercial property.

PS Kaneko didn't mention anything about there being a black dragon in the film but it would have been cool to see.

I actually saw this film before the first Majin back around 1987 or so. It was actually shown on an afternoon movie program called Movies to remember which usually showed more standard classic Hollywood movies. And yes I skipped school so i could tape it without commercials ( I was in 10th or 11th grade at the time)! I also think this one is slightly better than the first, and the scene where Majin parts the lake is just so spectacular! I quite agree with Torgaman that Majin needed an enemy to fight. Daimon from Daiei's YOKAI DAISENSO would have been a perfect opponent I think.

I only saw this once and don't remember it all that much. Unfortunately, my Daimajin films were on VHS and not DVD, so they didn't come with me down here.
