Bud Abbott Lou Costello Meet The Invisible Man (1951)
Starring Bud Abbott as Bud Alexander Lou Costello as Lou Francis Nancy Guild as Helen Gray Arthur Franz as Tommy Nelson Adele Jergens as Boots Marsden Sheldon Leonard as Morgan William Frawley as Det. Roberts Gavin Muir as Dr. Philip Gray Sam Balter as Radio announcer (voice) John Day as Rocky Hanlon Paul Maxey as Dr. James C. Turner
Alexander was Bud Abbott's real middle name Francis was Lou Costello's real middle name
William Frawley was probably best known for playing Fred Mertz in "I Love Lucy".
Bud Alexander and Lou Francis have just graduated from Dugan's Detective school. They hope their first case is a robbery or even a murder. They get their wish when boxer Tommy Nelson shows up at the office. Altough Lou Francis is supposed to be the dumb one he's first to recognise the stranger as the man wanted by the police for murder and the first to realise that Tommy didn't do it. Bud Alexander keeps trying to turn Tommy in for the reward but keeps failing because he can't see Tommy who used the late Dr. Griffins forumla to make himself invisible.
Tommy is accused of murdering his manager. He eventually convinces Bud and Lou to help prove his innocence by setting Lou up as a boxer. Of course its the invisible Tommy who really does the fighting.
I thought this was a good addition to the invisible man movie, despite some simularities with The Invisible Man Returns (1940).

David S. Horsley's effects hold up very well. I believe Horsley assisted Fulton on a number of the Invisible Man sequels.
I especially liked the scene in which Arthur Franz disappears--everything vanishes quickly except for his teeth, and then those fade slowly away, as he laughs maniacally. Very bizarre and creepy image!
