This film any good? Target has it on their discount shelf for $5.50. Worth it?

maybe- if you like 50s style horror comics. there are two pretty good scary stories and two kind of funny stories and one really silly plant story. i liked it in the theater.

If you're a fan of Tales From the Crypt, then you'll definitely enjoy Creepshow. I've always enjoyed it. Even if that style of horror isn't your bag, it still might be worth a $5.50 flyer.

Definitely a fun film worth viewing. Saw it several times on HBO back in the '80s. I remember busting up at hearing E.G. Marshall use the "F" word, since I was familiar with him playing a good guy defense attorney on THE DEFENDERS in the early '60s.

i just saw these in Best Buy for about $6. there was also a "special edition" of CreepShow 2 for more, but i thought that was kind of odd, since it's not as fun as the first one.

Haven't seen "Creepshow" in a long time, but it was always a late-night favorite. $5.50 sounds like a great price too!

Father's Day Even though I was expecting father to come out of his grave it still startled me when it did. Been a long time since a horror movie actually spooked me.
The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill I didn't realise that was Stephen King, I'm not going to say who I thought it was.
Something To Tide You Over I like Leslie Nielsen in roles like this nice contrast to his comic roles.
The Crate I don't know that I've ever wanted someone to get eaten by the monster before. For a moment I was afraid the thing wasn't going to eat Wilma.
They're Creeping Up On You I could do without the F word. E.G. Marshall hosted the CBS Radio Mystery Theater. He was good at that.
Tide and Crate were my favorite segments. The ending was too ovious they gave it away earlier in one of the comic book segments.
Now I'll to think about getting Creepshow 2.
BTW there's somebody posting in the Creepshow 2 forum at Internet movie database who claims to have a part in an upcoming Creepshow 3.

yeah, Adrienne did a good job of being a queen sized, er, pain in the Crate.
i enjoyed the movie all around, but the bugs... ew! i liked the plants from space (Jordy) and the first time i saw it didn't realize that was King either. i forget how it ended exactly though, man it HAS been a long time since i saw the movie.
2 is not quite as good, but not bad.

Creepshow 2 (1987)
Domenick John - Billy Tom Savini - The Creep Joe Silver - voice of The Creep
Old Chief Wood'nhead: George Kennedy - Ray Spruce Philip Dore- Curly Kaltey Napoleon - Indian #1 Tyrone Tonto - Indian #2 Dorothy Lamour - Martha Spruce Frank Salsedo - Ben Whitemoon Holt McCallany - Sam Whitemoon David Holbrook - Fatso Gribbens Don Harvey - Andy Cavanaugh Dan Kamin - Old Chief Wood'nhead Dean Smith - Mr. Cavanaugh Shirley Sonderegger - Mrs. Cavanaugh
The Raft: Paul Satterfield - Deke Jeremy Green - Laverne Daniel Beer - Randy Page Hannah - Rachel several plastic garbage bags - the creature
The Hitchhiker: Lois Chiles - Annie Lansing David Beecroft - Annie's lover (male prostitute) Tom Wright - The Hitchhiker Richard Parks - George Lansing Stephen King - Truck Driver Cheré Bryson - Woman at accident
Creepshow was rated PG, Creepshow R probably for scenes of two women's breasts (neither neccesary).
Three more horror stories from "Creepshow" magazine. Not as good as the original Creepshow film. The ending story (all animated) was just plain silly. According to IMB there were originally five stories written for Creepshow 2. One was used in "Tales From The Darkside: The Movie".
Old Chief Wood'nhead A wooden indian comes to life to revenge the death of the humans who tended for him for 30 years. David Holbrook's father Hal Holbrook was featured in the original Creepshow.
The Raft Four young people, two male, two female, go swimming and meet the blob's cousin. Leverne is wearing a shirt from Horlicks University, shown in the original film (Hal Holbrook's section). The scene were Randy deciding to takee advantage of a sleeping girl puts her down on the raft, even though he knows the creature can get through the slats in the raft, was absurd. Maybe they thought we neeed a reason to think Randy deserved what happens to him at the end.
The Hitchhiker A woman late to a meeting with her husband, because she spent the night with a male prostitute, runs over a hitchhiker, who refues to stay dead but keeps appearing to thank her for the ride.
Come to think of it, I guess these were all modern morality plays. The first deals with theft and murder. The second drugs and premartial sex. The third adultery and leaving the scene of an accident.

The Lonesome Death of Jordy Verrill was always a favorite, but then I'm a big Lovecraft fan.
Creepshow 2 mostly left me cold. Though THE RAFT is probably the only King short story I remember vividly and thought it was translated to screen fairly well in 2. And THE HITCHHICKER gave me and my roommates much entertainment for many weeks after seeing the movie. We loved saying "Thanks for the ride, Ma'am..." . One night when I went to my bedroom there was a lump in my bed, I turned the sheets back and there was a cow skull (I'm from Missouri, there's lots of cow skulls laying about) with a note on it that said "thanks for the ride ma'am".

Mostly what Missouri has is rocks. I don't know how the trees and grasses grow. I have family in and around Mansfield. Two of my cousins used to be two-thirds of the Mansfield police. I know an old Nebraska farm where you could probably find an entire cow skeleton if you searched the grass long enough.

i've been through Nebraska a few times. i wish i had been into collecting key chains back then, i would have picked one up at the many gas stations we stopped at.
i've only been around Kansas City MO, never actually in the state. it would be interesting to visit, i think.
as long as there are no slimey bogs that actively eat people...

I enjoyed Creepshow 2 more the second time around. When I first watched it, I thought the Wooden Indian story was lame, but I really enjoyed it when seeing it again after a long, long time. Always liked The Raft, and "Thanks for the ride, lady!" never seems to leave your brain after hearing it.
