I have other Hammer horror films in my Netflix queue. The IMdb says that Night Creatures is another title for The Last Man on Earth, which isn't actually a Hammer Studio's film. It was planned to be but they handed it over to somebody else. In any case I've already seen The Last Man on Earth. I have it on a set of vampire movies. I liked it until the ending. Vincent Price was the last normal man, everybody else infected with a disease that made them vampires. Even a dog was infected. Price spent his days finding vampires and destroying them. Then spent his nights trying to avoid being bitten by the ones he missed.
Oh the Hammer set was released by Universal. Wouldn't Hammer have been a rival? Did they buy up the Hammer film library?

i believe this Hammer Night Creatures is a Dr. Syn movie, but i am not sure exactly. i don't think it's LAST MAN ON EARTH.
i also think that Universal released some of these Hammer movies (as did Warner Brothers) or bought up some of the movies from their library. in fact, i am sure they did, at least with the Frankenstein movies, since Universal was known for those movies in the past as well.

I once read that a young kid suffered a heart attack from fear while watching the Creeping Unknown (in its original run). Have any of you heard stuff like that?

those sort of stories about, but i think most are apocryphal- they probably never happened (think poodle in the microwave stories). someone has always "heard" they've happened, but no one can prove it.

I just finished Brides of Dracula. The only thing wrong with it is the the title. The male vampire isn't Dracula in fact the film starts with narration stating that Dracula is dead but there are other vampires.
On to Curse of the Werewolf.

The Curse of the Werewolf - intersting take on the werewolf story. Strange though that they took a story originally set in France and put it in Spain.

Yep, Night Creatures is based on Dr. Syn, and the original title was Captain Clegg. It's a different story from Last Man on Earth, which was based on Richard Matheson's I Am Legend (and also remade as The Omega man with Charlton Heston).
I think Hammer Studios stopped production in the early '80s, with their last efforts being the Hammer House of Horror TV series, which stopped airing in '84 (only one season, all filmed in 1980). They apparently had some things in the works with Warner in the early '90s, but those projects never came to fruition. However, it looks like Hammer Films may crawl back out of the grave again, with some talk of reviving the company in the near future. Hammerfilms.com is a pretty informative site for anyone interested.
I bought the set but haven't watched any films yet. I was just happy they finally put out Curse of the Werewolf. By the way, hope everyone is doing well, been a while since I've stopped by.
