An unusally large and bright meteor show brings twin disasters to earth. First it blinds all those who watched it and second it caused the earth to bring forth Triffids, mobile, carnivours plants with a taste for human flesh.
I have this on VHS tape. It was given to me years ago by sister because I liked science fiction and horror movies. I was a big fan of Doctor Who at the time but it was an acccident that my sister picked a movie with a Doctor Who actress in it. Carol Ann Ford played the Doctor's grandaughter Susan. Its one of the first horror movies I owned.
Remade in a 1981 tv movie
Tom Goodwin: Keep behind me. There's no sense in getting killed by a plant.

i've seen the tv movie recently, and have a copy of the book- the tv movie was far closer, and about twice as long as the original movie. i'd like to see the original movie again though. i recommend reading the book and seeing the tv movie if you can. good stuff.

I've only seen the original movie, but have always liked it. Interesting effects and creepy Triffid moments. Plus, where else are we gonna see Bob Cratchit (Mervyn Johns) get whacked by monstrous plants from beyond?
