The Yajuta part of my name comes from the species name for the Predators.(I have seen it both as yajuta, yautja and going with what I saw first) I never really dug the Predator movies, but really fell in love when Darkhorse started doing this epic cross over series. The notion of Predators holding a queen alien captive to seed planets for ritual hunts just fit so well. I never really cared for the Alien movies, but the pairing with the Predators is great. I really enjoyed the first two Batman/Predator combos as well.(The Superman one was okay. The Judge Dredd one was pretty cool. I never wanted to read the Predator/Tarzan series as it just seemed hokey. The crossover with the JLA was awesome, as the Extirminators endowed some captured Predators with super powers and they then squared off with their JLA counterparts.) I had the Super Nintendo game which was totally different than the excellent arcade game. I never got the other home based games. The first one was for the Jaguar, and I have never had a computer that could support the second game. I still have one of the foreign language two packs of Aliens vs. Predator, but my anniversary two set was stolen. Needless to say, this is the movie I have anticipated most this year. I wish they had followed the story as shown in the first Aliens/Predator series as it was great. I think it would have made an excellent story for the movie, but the new story looks good. Seeeing some of the promo art with Predators from Egyptian and Mayan pyramids was great. Is anyone but me looking forward to this film?

Well, I'm not much of a fan of either series, or the comics, so I'm pretty "meh" to it all. Lots of people at various boards whining that it is only rated PG-13 instead of "R".

Who cares what the rating is? So no gratuitous scenes involving humns being eaten. It will be cool seeing the Predators in action.

On the whole, I'm not a particular fan of gore so I was quite pleased with the PG-13 rating. I'm excited to watch it, since Paul Anderson has shown himself capable of making an entertaining video game flick, as evidenced by Mortal Kombat.

Oh yeah, I'll be hitting the theater for this one! Nothing I like better than well designed and conceived monsters, and I think both the Predator and xenomorph fit that bill nicely.
I go sort of pre-dissapointed though, knowing the screenplay diverges ENTIRELY from the excellent story found in the graphic novel and paperback.
Yes, the video game looks great, but for a real treat Read The Book too!

Looks silly to me, but I look forward to seeing it anyway.

I have read the books, the comics and novels and I concour! The story in the first AVP series would have rocked as the movie. This one does look okay though.

I really don't know. I'm very curious, so the jury is still out.
I only saw the first "Predator" movie and felt rather indifferent. I've been disappointed with the Alien series since part three. One of the good things about the early Alien features was that there was no CGI. Now it looks like it's going to be full blown versions of the creatures. I don't know about that, but I'll judge it when or if I see it.

He perferes the suits over the graphics in this case.

That is one buff looking Predator in the previews.

Like I said, I'm very curious, and still don't know if I will see it. But, I 'm a little suspicious that Fox would release it the weekend the Olympics start. Traditionally, that's a down time for movies and sometimes the studios will only release features they deem not as good during that period. Remember “Kazam!”. But we will see.

I got excited when I found out it would be PG-13 and even more so when I found out that there'll be more suitmation than CGI in it, according to that interview. I'm looking forward to it; I absolutlely loved the 4-player arcade game.

Well the general consensus on the IMDB is that the movie sucks. Which means I have to watch to discover whether I need to review it for my site. It may just be a beautiful film worth fighting for.

I liked it. The movie was pretty cool. I would have liked a little more full blown action, which we got a glimpse of with the Predators taking on swarms of Aliens on top of that pyramid, but the close up battling was well done. I was disspaointed when they didn't take Lexy, as her bearing the mark of that Predator rmindned me of Hirki's Broke Tusk mark that allowed her to travel and hunt with the Predators. I liked it, and the Aliens looked good. That was one friggin huge Predator! There is lots of dying in the film, but nothing too gratuitous, which is nice because it is nice to have to use your imagination.

I'll give it this, AvP was definatly the most entertaining movie and movie experience I had been two since last year's prerelease of "X2: X-Men United". I am whized at FOX for taking a chainsaw to this movie though. Special effects scenes, entire sub-plots, character development scenes, an entire intro, scenes of the characters SHOWN being killed off and answers to several plot holes were cut out. Originally the film was 140 min and FOX sliced it down to 86. Frankly, I think those extra scenes, really, REALLY would've helped explain more and cause me to have more sympathy of the characters. FOX really needed to allow this film to be R. All the other ones were and there's not reason for this to be kiddied up. On the one hand this cut was nice to take my little sister too...whom really wanted to see it. Oh well, the Director's Cut DVD should be around during the holidays. That should raise my liking for the movie even more. As it stands though, Scar and Celtic (mainly Scar) made the movie for me.

Yeah- the cynic in me would say they did it on purpose, so they could charge more for a double disc set. Nah...

I saw this movie finally. It was fairly entertaining and such. I think the editing did hurt it though, as I would've liked to have seen some scenes extended and others added. The Medallion suffered from the same thing. Both are fun movies, but they could've been more. It's entertaining though and watching this movie, I can understand the difficulty that exists in creating a movie with equal parts horror, suspense, and high-octane action. Kudos to Anderson for using more suitmation than CGI (on the whole).

Horrible movie. As soon as they actually explain what's going on, they rush to kill everyone off to end the movie and then leave the coolest idea for a last second reveal so they could leave the door open for a sequel.
