Man, that author sure was a knob! Nice write up Dave! Man, what the hell is wrong with Germany and naming movies stuff that has no relation to it? Wasn't every Godzilla movie named King Kong von Frankenstein? ;D

Nice review Megs! That cover is just...wrong though. lol
Apparently adding "Frankenstein" to the movie's title was thought to boost ticket sales in Germany.
What's interesting is how "Frankenstein" sometimes actually makes its way into the movie as a character's name. If I heard correctly either Doktor G or the Destron Leader becomes "Doctor Frankenstein" in "Frankenstein's Kung Fu Monster" (of course knowing that film, they're all probably the same guy anyway.) I still get a kick out of the fact that there is indeed a "Kung Fu Monster" in the film, I think it was Lens-Ari, and he's there for about 3 minutes!

This review sounds strangely familiar. I love these Chinese Rider movies, I really do.

Well, there are the two Rider movies from Taiwan, the Thai Ultra movie, the (unauthorized) Thai Rider movie (the latter two both with Hanuman), the Chinese Mach Baron movie and the Chinese/Thai(?) Jumborg Ace movie. Have I missed any? (I'd lay money down that I did) By the way, welcome over here, Jeff.

Welcome, Jeff!
I *think* celamowari got them all, but who really knows. What I do want to know is if "Krieg Der Infras" is the German dub of "Super Riders with the Devil" (correct?), what was the original title of the movie that was dubbed into "Frankenstein's Kung Fu Monster"?
Anyways, it's interesting that the Thai movie (which seems to go by various names, my favorite being "Hanuman vs. GOD"!) is the one to actually use footage from the "5 Riders vs. King Dark" film. The big final battle from "Kamen Rider V3 vs. Destron Kaijin" is in there too, for no apparent reason.

What I do want to know is if "Krieg Der Infras" is the German dub of "Super Riders with the Devil" (correct?), what was the original title of the movie that was dubbed into "Frankenstein's Kung Fu Monster"? According to Damon Foster, the title was virtually identical to the Chinese title for SUPER RIDERS WITH THE DEVIL, except it had "V3" in it. So I guess it would translate as SUPER RIDER V3 WITH THE DEVIL. Having never seen the box and it having been way too long since I watched SUPER RIDERS, my guess is that the "with" may be referring to what in the West would be "VS." and in Japan would be "TAI". I can't recall how Damon saw that V3 title offhand, but he is the person in the States who first publicized the existence of these flicks in OC. Prior to that, there had only been the pic in FAMOUS MONSTERS.

there's also another Ultraman movie that is in limbo right now. Tsubaraya says it was unauthorised, the filmakers say they were given the rights to make it. as far as i9 know it's still being argued with their lawyers. we never get to see this movie.

This is the ULTRAMAN MILLENNIUM movie from Thailand's Chaiyo Productions, I presume.

That movie looks cool as heck. Nice write up Dave! I know many of you may disagree, but I think it would be cool for them to do this with Power Rangers. My son likes the show, but he isn't familiar with some of the older teams.

Carrangers did fight, with Ohrangers in their "vs" movie. The Carrangers don't recognise the machine as being evil at first. The best part of that film is when Captain Miura shows up and finding the Carrangers to be undisciplined puts them through bootcamp.
