Debuting on Japanese television this fall, is a new “Midnight Action Drama” from director Keita Amemiya (ZEIRAM, MIKAZUKI), GARO: THE FANGED WOLF is aimed at young adults, promising to be far more dark and violent than current fare marketed for children - with an emphasis on horror.
Makoto Yokoyama, the actor director of SHIBUYA 15 and KAMEN RIDER: THE FIRST, is not only choreographing the series, but will direct Episodes 3 & 4. Hiroshi Konishi [http://www.stardust.co.jp/file/profile/konishi.html] stars as Koga Saejima, who is bestowed with the power of Garo. The supporting cast includes Amemiya regular Yukijiro Hotaru (GAMERA 3). Actor and prop/toy collector Masaki Kyomoto (CUTIE HONEY) makes a special guest appearance.
Garo himself looks like a more polished version of a Toei Sentai Main Villain, but plated in a high-polished gold armor. Much like the original Kamen Rider did to television audiences in the early 1970s, Garo's appearance is the antithesis of “superhero”.
GARO has been approved for 26 episodes and will premiere on Friday, October 7th at 1:30am on the TV Tokyo network. www.tv-tokyo.co.jp/garo/
