this is a fun and bloody Jimmy Wang Yu movie. the US DVD releasers have titled it ONE ARMED SWORDSMAN VS NINE KILLERS, but it's obviously not his famous Kang Feng character, since he has his right arm instead of his left. usually his right arm is missing in his many one armed movies.
the plot is pretty simple, he's out for revenge on the band of assassins that killed his family. the fights are plentiful and some really cool and interesting ones take place. there is also a "surprise ending" but it's pretty obvious (well, i thought so).
the disc is an OK picture, good sound and is letteboxed. it's dubbed in English as well. i don't mind the picture being a little soft- it's nice to see it letterboxed.
whiners who think because Wang Yu wasn't trained in any particular style of kung fu means he isn't good are completely wrong. he goes all out in his movies and has crisp and clean execution in his moves. when you make movies with lots of kung fu artists, you are going to learn a move or two, or how to look good with a sword or a spear.

Thanks for posting this,David-I've seen this available at Best Buy(&have wanted to see this Wang Yu jem for a LOOONG time),so I may have to pick this up.I totally agree with you about Wang Yu's critics&their ''swing-arms'' insults;''TIGER&CRANE FISTS'' showed just how well Wang Yu could perform traditional kung fu onscreen,&there's NO doubting the man looked good wielding a sword...
Yat dan,yee lik,sam gung fu!
