The Fast and the Furious (1954)
John Ireland - Frank Webster Dorothy Malone - Connie Adair Bruce Carlisle - Faber Iris Adrian - Wilma Belding, Waitress Marshall Bradford - Mr. Hillman, Race Marshal Bruno Ve Sota - Bob Nielson, Truck Driver Byrd Holland - Doctor Larry Thor - Detective Sergeant Henry Rowland - Motorist in Park Jean Howell - Sally Phillips Richard Pinner - Officer Samuels Robin Morse - Gas Station Attendant Lou Place - Detective Faraday Snub Pollard - Park Caretaker
The DVD case lists Roger Corman as director but the film credits list him as producer not director. Also the script is based on a story he wrote. He's featured in an uncredit cameo, as a police officer.
Accused of murder Frank Webster escapes from the police, assualts a citizen who tried to take him in, abducts a lady race car driver, Miss Connie Adair, and steals her Jaguar for a quick trip to Mexico. With the police after him, he's forced to enter the International audio race, which crosses into Mexico.
Of course Connie Adair resent being kidnapped in the beginning and tries repeatedly to get away. Naturally by the end of the film she's in love with Frank and believes his claim to be innocent.
Another $1 DVD but I got it for 50 cents on a two for a dollar sale. The other DVD I got was "Bela Lugosi Meets a Brooklyn Gorilla".
Not a bad little film (73 minutes), worth the $1 it original sold for.
