This has been a bad month.
Actor Dennis Weaver died last Friday, he was 81.
His most remembers roles are probably: Gunsmoke (1955-1964 tv series) - Chester Goode (Gunsmoke ran 1955-1975) Gentle Ben (1967 movie, 1967-1969 tv series) - Tom Wedloe McCloud (1970-1977 Mystery Movie series) - Sam McCloud
Adios Marshal McCloud

I agree,Stuart, this has indeed been a terrible month for losing so many great entertainers who've meant so much to us.From everything I've read about him Dennis Weaver imbued the roles you mentioned with alot of his own personality,&in television interviews he came across like those characters:humble,down-to-earth&just a regular guy.I read in this morning's USAToday that he&his wife had been married for 61 years(amazing in this day&age, which shows how stalwart&devoted a man Dennis was.)His was always a welcome presence on our TV screens;my condolences go out to his family.

Yes, I was sadden to hear that Dennis Weaver had passed on. I've always considered him one of the more underrated actors around. In addition to his T.V. series, I also remember him in Spielberg's first movie "Duel" as the down-on-his luck salesman, David Mann. Ironically, it is that along with "The Night Stalker" (with the late Darrin MaGavin), that for me, are arguably, the two greatest made-for-tv movies of all time, and for which Richard Matheson had a hand in both. It is a loss of some great talents.
