i heard about this on Tuesday, but here is the official word-
"It is with a heavy heart and much sadness that the staff of Monster Zero must announce the unexpected passing of MZ co-founder and owner, Aaron Smith. Aaron passed away on Tuesday after a major cardiac arrest. He had been in the hospital over the weekend due to ongoing complications arising from an injury he suffered a few months ago. It appeared by Monday that he was out of the woods but, according to his family, Tuesday's heart attack was massive and quick, and nothing could be done."
RIP Aaron ,you will be missed.

Oh man, I hadn't heard anything about this at all. What a shock... I don't even know what to say right now.

I find this news very depressing. I believe Aaron’s mother had passed away just last year, and now there is Aaron himself. Certainly, my thoughts and prayers go out to the Smith family. The man was just 36, two years younger than I am. Thanks Aaron for bringing a lot of us Godzilla / movie fans into one fold and having some great discussions, even if several of us had our disagreements.

My gosh, I'm sorry to hear this. I always liked Aaron; he was such a nice and reasonable guy on the old MZ boards back before I stopped frequenting them. Thanks Aaron, for all of your support and dedication to the Godzilla Fandom and Kaiju Eiga. Thanks for posting my Godzilla-Titanic movie idea on one of your old surveys.

I just read this sad and shocking news a few minutes ago at the MZ site. Aaron and his great MZ site have been THE source for Godzilla news as far as I'm concerned. I've been an almost daily visitor since I first got on the net back in early '99. Aaron will be sorely missed indeed.
