John Wesley Shipp ... Barry Allen/The Flash Amanda Pays ... Christina 'Tina' McGee Alex Désert ... Julio Mendez Mike Genovese ... Lt. Warren Garfield Richard Belzer ... Joe Kline Gloria Reuben ... Sabrina Dick Miller ... Fosnight Mark Hamill ... James Montgomery Jesse/The Trickster Michael Champion ... Leonard Snart/Captain Cold David Cassidy... Sam Scudder/The Mirror Master Joyce Hyser ... Megan Lockhart Biff Manard ... Officer Michael Francis Murphy Vito D'Ambrosio ... Officer Tony Bellows Michael Nader ... Nicolas Pike Jason Bernard ... Desmond Powell/The Nightshade
just rented the first disc, and i've not seen any of these episodes since it's original broadcast. pretty good stuff, despite some of the silliness. Shipp looks great in the costume, though i would have thought it would have been a bit thinner, but big bulky muscles were the thing back then. still, it's colorful with a good sense of humor, and he looks like the Flash. gotta love that.
and Mark Hamill's turn as the Trickster- which he effectively turned into the Joker later on. i'm debating on buying the series now.

I'm not into DC stuff at all but when this series was being broadcast a friend and I tuned in religiously. It was kick-ass!!
The costume certainly was cool and the series itself seemed to have just the right amount of Action and humour. Haven't watched a Super Hero show since. Great stuff!

The problem with this series is that it failed to really make an identity for itself. At first it was too "Tim Burton Batmanesque" then it sort of delved into campier silliness. A missed opportunity.

The set IS pricey, but has come down considerably since it first came out. Worth it if you're a fan of DC, The Flash, or superhero stuff in general. The entire cast was great. Thankfully the powers that be didn't tamper with the classic suit too much. He looked great on screen - and surprisingly Shipp got lots of time as Flash too - not just a blip here and there. The saddest thing about this show was that the dolts at CBS threw it up against ratings juggernaut The Cosby Show, which destroyed everything in its path. A bad, bad move. It could have had a decent run of 3 or 4 seasons otherwise, but it was nice while it lasted. The effects are still pretty cool-looking, even compared to CGI used by most TV shows & movies nowadays. My friend's kids LOVE the show and have never griped about or pointed out the occasional goof or bad effect. Something to be said still for the more 'conventional' special effects that remain available to filmmakers. And I love that Danny Elfman theme!! Very catchy.

just watched the episode with the Jok-, i mean the Trickster. Mark Hamill did a great job, but you can see where he was headed (and ended up in the Batman cartoon). the time travel story was interesting, but predictable.

My favs were the two episodes with the late Jason Bernard as The Nightshade, especially his first appearance. Some great observations on superheroes in general and their place in the world. He was perfect in the part.
