I was reading THE ART OF HERGE (creator of Tintin) and came across an entry for a more scifi oriented series he did called the Adventures of Jo, Zette and Jocko. That in turn lead me to find out about another series which appeared in TINTIN magazine in the 40s-50s called BLAKE AND MORTIMER. This comic seems like something the pulp and serial fan might like and a cartoon series was made a while back. I haven't seen a full episode yet, but the opening credits seem promising. www.youtube.com/watch?v=T0ZqKMCRewI"Based on the popular comics and graphic novels by Edgar P. Jacobs, a close friend and collaborator of Tintin creator Hergé. "From London to Paris, Cairo to Tokyo, Blake and Mortimer spend their days investigating the unknown and saving the world from evil dictators, crazed megalomaniacs and mad scientists, who more often than not have some nefarious connection to their notorious nemesis, the mercenary criminal adventurer Colonel Olrik. With plots involving space trips, time travel, vast journeys across land and sea and a strong undercurrent emphasising the importance of friendship and commitment to duty"
