YOU KNOW YOU ARE IN NEBRASKA IN JULY WHEN...
The birds use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.
The trees are whistling for dogs.
The best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.
Hot water now comes out of both taps.
You can make sun tea instantly.
You learn that a seat belt buckle makes a pretty good branding iron.
The temperature drops below 95 and you feel a little chilly.
You discover that it only takes 2 fingers to steer your car.
You discover that you can get sunburned through your car window.
You actually burn your hand opening the car door.
You break into a sweat the instant you step outside at 4:30 a.m.
Your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death?"
You realize that asphalt has a liquid state.
The potatoes cook underground, so all you have to do is pull one out and add butter, salt and pepper.
Farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying boiled eggs.
The cows are giving evaporated milk.

My oh my, it's been wickedly hot lately. Cool this morning and thank goodness for that. A lot of nights where it's 90 degrees in the apartment, all night solid, can't have the air conditioning on all the time, just too expensive. Whew! How is everyone holding up? (Those jokes are pretty funny!)

fans are my best friend at this time of year, no question. we had a pretty hot spell about a month ago, but it's been pleasant enough. the good thing about living in a desert (OK, "semi-arid region) is that is gets cool quickly once the sun sets.

Down here it is hot and humid. ACs, fans, and cool breezes are my friends! You guys know how the Wind Chill Factor works, the heat index works the opposite way. The temp will be say 92, but the humidity pushes it up to about 101.

It cooled down in August and actually rained. Some people said we had August in July and September in August.
The weather guessers are crazy. 100 degrees isn't hot enough they have to throw in the humidity to make it 110. And 0 isn't cold enough they have to include the wind chill factor to make it -10. Where they have hurricanes they're disappointed when they have to downgrade the storms because they predicted wrong. Around here they nearly panic if we have a thunderstorm. You'd think we'd never had them before.
