This is a recent film by the noted Takeshi Miike (AUDITION) about a loser who becomes Zebraman, dresses in a Zebra costume after becoming obsessed with a 1970s era Japanese TV superhero. He ends up fighting an alien invasion.

I've wanted to see this film....anyone willing to trade me for it?
BTW:Audition was one of those films that utterly creeped me out, and it takes alot to do that! I watched it once, and won't watch it again! I even gave away my DVD!! Sometimes takeshi Miike just goes too far, Ithink.

I got Zebraman, about a month ago. I love it. Disk two, which has all the special features, is entirely in Japanese though, with no subs...

I absolutely loved this movie. As a matter of fact, I believe just about any Tokusatsu fan alive will dig it. I was really impressed at the homages that the director purposely added into the story. The scenes of the main character/loser watching old Zebraman episodes made me smile. A Tokusatsu hero dressed in a Zebra-like suit, riding a Zebra-motorcycle battling Eville henchmen along with a theme song right out of the 70's was awesome. Wish it was real! This film had alot of things going for it: Some overall good acting, nice action sequences, standard Japanese-style SPFX, some funny parts, some sad parts, some really weird parts. All of it combined into a flick that was great to sit down and get drawn into. You know, I wish stuff like this would happen to me, man. Anyway, seek it out. You'll love it.

Fun film. Adult fascinated by a super hero he watched as a kid becomes his childhood hero to battle aliens.
I didn't think I was going to see it. I have two DVD players. The one that I normally use wouldn't load it at all. The cheaper one I don't normally use because it tends to freeze up played the disk with no problems at all. Weird.
Anyway I enjoyed it. Although there are some things I didn't get. Like the part where they're examinging a sample of alien goo then some guy comes in to take a bath. They were doing secret experiments in a public bath?
I wonder if Mizuki, Ichiro's Zebraman tv series theme is available on CD.

The film is very cool... the "original" Zebraman, seen in the fake television series in the film, is played by my pal HIROSHI WATARI -- the star of SHARIVAN and SPEILBAN! The secret science organization seen in the film is a take off on the Science Patrol from ULTRAMAN, down to the Silver Star mark! Set in the "real" world, it's considered a "fringe" organization and is sorely under-funded, which is why their experimention tank is located in the organization's ofuro (Japanese Bath)! Hilarious!

I just watched Zebraman and I think it is brilliant! Very weird, very cool. Why he turns into the real Zebraman... who knows... but who cares? It doesn't matter because it makes perfect sense in this bizarre world. If it was played any other way I probably woulda been saying "hey, waitaminit! that doesn't work! that's not logical!" but it all works fine here. Black and White Ecstasy!

this sure is one weird movie. i like it, but it's too long (as most movies are these days). could have used more superheroics and less emo stuff.
seeing the "classic" show made me wish that shows still had color and fun to them, along with the great theme songs!
