i am looking forward to this, as long as it's not really a remake. kind of like an add on story. looks cool enough, i reckon.

63 is far from old. I admit when I was kid I probably thought it was ancient, but now, I know better.
I gather the movie is going to be more like the manga than the tv series.

I liked it. I'd be into discussing it once you've watched it.

well, so far i'm enjoying it. i have VERY low expectations about it, but it's not bad. i'm up to the introduction of Ichimonji, who is WAY cooler than this Hongo (no surprise, this actor was the best of the "riders" in Ryuki as well).
i like the fact that there are minions floating about, and the action scenes are decent.
i don't care for the theme song, or the whole 'put the mask on' bits of the villains and heroes- i keep expecting Hongo to say "Set up!" when he starts to change. i like the scarves for sure!
i try to look at this as just a movie, without knowing about the characters and tv show. that seems to help, knowing it won't be the same. i do think Riders without Henshin poses are not a good idea.
i'll write more once i finish the movie later on tonight.

overall, i liked the movie. it really would have worked best if i had never heard of KR, or "henshin", and like pretty boys, but it's not a bad movie. too much time wasted with the hospital stuff- that was just kind of weak and lame, and pretty useless.
but the fights were good- better fight scenes than i have seen in a Kamen Rider show since ZX! i remember watching THE IRON MONKEY back in the 90s and wishing that there would be a Kamen Rider movie like that, and this was close.
i hear Media Blasters are going to release this on R1, but i am not sure that i need another copy. depends on the extras for sure, this time! LOL!

I'd have to re-watch it because it was a couple of months since I saw it, but I remember liking the overall mood and flow of the movie. Indeed the hospital scenes tended to slow things down but I figured there was a reason for those two characters to be in the plot, though ultimately they weren't any more engaging than any of the other Kaijin. I suppose they created a bit a pathos for showing that Kaijin have a more human origin and that it can be sad even when they are killed.
It felt like everything was more understated than the tv shows in order to give it a more mature "movie" feel. The thing with no henshin and putting on the helmets in order to transform was a bit irksome at first but came to sort of understand the idea. That they were somehow portraying this more as adult science fiction rather than children's fantasy. How do I come to that conclusion? I have no idea, it's just what came to me while watching it.
I liked it but overall it didn't leave a lasting impact. If I was to show a tokusatsu virgin something from kamen rider, I'd pick a stand alone movie and the one I'd pick would be KR ZO.

The only thing I liked about it was the too brief scene with Tachibana Tobei.
Hongo was an idot. Ichimonji was a jerk. They took the Kamen part too literly. I had no idea what the cancer(?) patients had to do with anything until the ending. Then the whole thing made me mad. That triangle between Hongo, Ichimonji and the girl was totally unneeded and silly. The final battle was weak.
