Despite the following list of complaints I didn't think it was awful, but it wasn't great either.
SPOILER WARNING!!!!
They took Kamen meaning "masked" too literally. I didn't care for the heroes and villains putting on masks. As for the gas mask wearing figures assiting the kaijin, somebody must have thought they were filming a new Inazuman movie. They confused the Shin Jin soldiers with the Shocker soldiers. They're turning into soapbubbles when they died was a nice touch though, just the way some Shocker kaijin died on TV.
I didn't mind Hongo and Ichimonji starting out working for Shocker but as a Shocker agents their scarves should have been yellow. As for their fighting each other, well it happend in a TV episode, except it was a brainwashed Hongo who attacked Ichimonji.
Ichimonji, Hayato was not at all likeable. I wanted to punch him myself, but than I also wanted to slap Hongo. Stop feeling guilty over something you didn't do, Hongo, and tell the woman you didn't kill her fiance, dang it!
I couldn't make sense of SHOCKER's full name. I didn't realise each letter was supposed to stand for something. I thought it was just the English word shocker (misprounounced as "showka") by the Japanese actors).
The appearance of Shinigami Hakase was a nice touch. I didn't see the point of those two people on either side of him though.,
I liked Miyauchi, Hiroshi's brief appearance as Tachibana, Tobei. I wish he had enjoyed it. [Somebody who met him in Hawaii told me he was annoyed at playing such a small part.]
The background music was dull. As for that ending theme, Disney should sue (stolen lyrics).
What Shocker did to those two cancer patients(?) made me extremly angry. At first I didn't get what that subplot was all about and then two more masked figures appeared and I understood it.
I'd like to know how Ichimonji got Tachibana, Tobei to make him a motorcycle too. There was no indication they knew each other.
The ending was kind of a let down.
