A DVD set of first season episodes, including the two made for tv movies which proceeded the regular series, is supposed to be out today.
I already have the tv movies and the first episode on VHS tape, but I plan to rent the DVDs starting with disk 2 (to get the second episode).

Columbo season 5 is available on DVD.
The 3rd episode of that season guest stars Patrick McGoohan, once again, as the murder. He's a CIA agent who kills another agent because that agent has evidence that McGoohan is a double agent. In an early scene, McGoohan wears a jacket which looks like it came from "The Prisoner" and twice he speaks the line "be seeing you".
The 6th episode was directed by Patrick McGoohan (who is not in it). Its an unusal episode in that unlike most other episodes the identity of the killer is not revealed until the end. In fact the man (Robert Vaughn) the audience is led to think is the murderer is himself murdered. Columbo is assisted in his investigation by an experienced sargent (seen before) and a young officer the chief has befriended.

All 7 seasons are available on DVD now.
Columbo Mystery Movies '89 is scheduled for release April 24, 2007. There were 5 of these Columbo specials. Presumably the 1990, 1991/92, 1993/94 and 1995-2003 movies will follow later.
Patrick McGoohan holds the record for playing the most murderers in Columbo. He starred in 4 episodes: "By Dawn's Early Light" (10/27/74), "Identity Crisis" (11/2/75), "Agenda for Murder" (2/10/90) and "Ashes to Ashes" (10/8/98). He's also directed 5 episodes (including 3 of his 4 appearances), wrote and produced two episodes.
Robert Culp and Jack Cassidy each played murderers 3 times.
Dean Stockwell (Robert Culp's second victim), George Hamilton, William Shatner (first one is of my favorite episodes) and Robert Vaughn (once as murderer and once as victim) appeared in 2 episodes each.
