This film is two days away and the most we've heard is about the female lead Katie Holmes and her "current romance" with Tom Cruise.I really don't like the looks of things when a film is hyped on a romance the female lead has with someone OUTSIDE of the film.Hell Holmes doesn't even play a character ever seen in any BATMAN comic so already I feel uneasy.Still I'll go see it and hopefully my intial high hopes will be fulfilled.

Yeah... I was wondering if the hype provided by the all-star line-up will actually translate into a good film or not. Being yet another film doubling-up on the baddies, while scraping the bottom of the barrel for them, doesn't necessarily bode well.
Not that there's anything necessarily wrong with Rha's or Scarecrow... But I mean, look at what we've had thus far. Either one could carry a movie on their own provided it had some decent writing. Same with Penguin, Catwoman, Riddler, Two-Face, Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy. What will we have for Batman Begins Again? The Ventrioquist, Mad Hatter, and Clayface?

hey! that's what i keep saying the sequel will be named! the movie has gotten some good reviews, but i hope it's not a case of 90% Wayne, 10% Batman, and too much villain. i know why they picked Rha's and the Scarecrow- they are more "realistic" than many of Batman's other more fantastic foes (well, that's my theory) thus making them less uneasy about making a high budget movie based on a comic book. i'm really on the fence about this movie. i loath the BAT-tank with a passion already, and the suit looks too plastic and heavy, which is odd since Bale seems to be a good physical specimen. hard to tell.

My biggest concern is the film's strongest selling point is Katie Holmes's dating Tom Cruise. It seems to have upstaged the film and I am afraid the film will devote too much time to her character like it did to Kim Bassinger in BATMAN.At least Bassinger played a rather obscure and forgotten character from the comic books.Holmes seems to have been put in the movie to attract her target audience which would normally not go to see this kind of film.

I liked it the first time I saw it and it was called The Shadow (Alec Baldwin). At least from the trailers the structure looks very similar. White guy goes to obscure asian place to train as badass, goes back to the city to fight crime. That's based on one viewing of the trailer, but that was really how it struck me. And yeah, I LIKED The Shadow!

i think all that stuff has been retroactively added to Batman's mythos now. is Talia even in the movie?

The stuff about Batman going to the orient to train started around the 70's due to the kung fu movie craze. Some issues of the comics have touched on this aspect. I have no idea if Talia is in the film but it would seem that Katie plays a girl Bruce Wayne knew as a young teenager[?]and there were "feelings" but Bruce took off to train.I really don't see the need for Katie Holmes and this character even being in the movie if for anything else to draw in a female demographic. Are we really desperate for another storyline of Bruce Wayne's secret identity being discovered by a girlfriend?

Some work-mates saw it today and say "best comic to film adaptation ever!" better than Spidy or the X-men. Gee. Guess I'll have to check it out.

i'm certainly glad it's out. i'm pretty tired of hearing about how great it is already, but maybe it IS better than Spidey, which would be a tough thing to do.

My thoughts:It would've been the best BATMAN film, and probably really is,except for the fights Batman is in.They are badly filmed with the action being undistinguishable. The action was filmed in extreme closeup which isn't a good idea when people are throwing martial arts kicks. It was nice to see the Batmobile tear up the streets of Chicago....oops I mean Gotham City.

that means the 66 Batman movie still has the best fight scenes.

Well Batman does have one pretty great fight scene in BATMAN RETURNS which is marred by him planting dynamite on a thug.

The box office results of BATMAN BEGINS was a mix of good news bad news.Though it was number one it's overall total for it's first five day run was only about 70 million dollars.SPIDER- MAN 2 and STAR WARS REVENGE OF THE SITH secured alot higher box office numbers in their first five days easily in the hundred million range.BATMAN BEGINS opened with stiff box office competition like MADIGASCAR,MR AND MRS SMITH,REVENGE OF THE SITH and CINDERELLA MAN though it could be argued that BATMAN BEGINS didn't open to as many screens as SPIDERMAN 2 and REVENGE OF THE SITH.It would be interesting to see how much it can ultimately rank in especially now that WAR OF THE WORLDS has been pushed ahead a few days.

Katie Holmes has not been asked back for the sequel.Reports are that the big boys at the WB weren't happy she spent more time plugging her hubby Cruise who is starring in the competition than plugging BATMAN BEGINS.
