All in all the new FF movie wasn't too bad. I enjoyed the rendition of the Surfer. It was far better than the first movie. While I didn't enjoy the version of Galactus for the most part it was okay. These new comic movies are a mixed bag. The comic fan in me wants to rage against all changes and omissions but I had an epiphany of sorts. These movies are made for the general masses and they don't care that the Kingpin is a 700 lbs. of muscle cracker and not a bacl guy, that Spidey had web shooters and didn't shoot webs from his wrist, or that Ice Man was an original X Man and not a student. I don't like the fact that Doom was cured of his disfiguring ugliness that made him wearing the armor a necessity(I know later on he gets bonded to the armor somehow) but that is the comic geek in me. FF 2 was harmless fun and was good for what it was. Plus watching Jessica Alba in Spandex for a couple of hours is for from the worst way to spend a couple of hours. ;D

i just watched the DVD of this, and aside from Alba's really bad dye job (that hair didn't look real) i liked it more than the first movie, which i liked about halfway. Doom really wasn't needed in the movie at all, but at least they gave him his armor instead of the stupid organic crap from the first one.
The Thing really came off well, i thought, the actor is quite good. Reed, not so much.
Johnny at least didn't seem borderline retarded this time and that helped a lot.
and for us nerds who said "Norrin Radd" when Sue asked the Surfer his name, they used that in the movie. of course, when he said he was saving the one he loved i could also say "Shalla Bal" but that's another story.
i also was reminded of the proposed musical version of the Surfer's story that was to be made in the late 70s early 80s with Olivia Newton-John. i think the colossal failure of XANADU put the kibosh on that.
