this is a fine Something Weird disc, which pairs the first two "Wrestling Women" movies (and the only two dubbed in English). i've seen both, but this is as nice as they will probably ever look.
i've been getting more into lucha movies recently, after having such a huge collection at one time, i think i over did it. of course, none of them were subbed, and that does truly help. who knew we'd get some of 'em subtitled at all?
anyway, this has a ton of extras, as usual, trailers and tv spots for many Mexican movies released up here. Lorena Valesquez stars with Elizabeth Campbell (schwing!) in both movies, lots of action and monsters.

this is a fine way to learn about the entire series.

Elizabeth Campbell and Lorena Velasquez may not have gotten along too well together. The statuesque Campbell was very physical and took wrestling sessions however Velasquez was not so willing to take the bumps so she insisted that if she used a double so should Campbell. When Velasquez left the series with LAS MUJERES PANTERA Campbell was teamed with Ariadne Welter who like Velasquez chickened out from doing most of the stunts but Campbell this time did her own wrestling.

is Elizabeth still alive? she'd be a good interview. i liked DOCTOR more than AZTEC MUMMY, but i'll pick this disc up sometime.
i'd like to get some more- i need INVASION OF THE ZOMBIES, the Neutron movies, things like that. interested in a trade, Raul?

There was some question as to wether SOMETHING WEIRD had the rights to release the films.I know that they had to pull their double feature Santo dvd before it hit the stores due to copyright issues.

i wondered what had happened to that set. too bad, sort of, as we know those would have been better than Brentwood's!

The low-down is that the widow of K. Gordon Murray claimed that she owns the rights to the films her late husband distributed, and wanted stacks of cash for them. Until the issue can be cleared, the rest of us are ass-out on the curb for the likes of SANTO VS. THE VAMPIRE WOMEN... I was really looking forward to the double-feature DVD with THE BRAINIAC, too... DAMN YOU, DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL!

Well there was a decent DVD release of BRANIAC on RETRO MEDIA.Better than the BRENTWOOD release. Currently the Spanish version of SANTO CONTRA LAS MUJERES VAMPIRO is available on Mexican dvd and vendors on ebay are already selling copies.

Correction on my last post:It was FRONT ROW ENTERTAINMENT that put out the rather shoddy coppy of THE BRANIAC.

I have a nifty triple feature DVD called SERIAL CHILLERS with DR BLOOD'S COFFIN, Naschy's FURY OF THE WOLFMAN and THE BRAINIAC! Now that's one fine evening of entertainment on that disc! The prints aren't too bad, the usual PD stuff, some grain and scratches, but nothing unwatchable. I didn't notice any pixelation or stuff like that either. Found this in the Sprawl-mart $5.50 bin about a year or so ago.
