i was pretty surprised at how much i enjoyed this. i saw the "extended cut" and i was happy i could pause the DVD at times, since it's a bit too long. however, mostly it was quite good.
the selection of songs was quite good, but of course, there's not a CD of those out. yeesh, that is really weak, as i would like to get it. though mostly i think i'd like to get a CD of different "Ghost Riders" versions. i mean, there are probably thousands of them by now, i reckon. i have the original Gene Autrey version.
anyway, it follows the comic book pretty closely, with young Johnny Blaze selling his soul to save his father from cancer. this of course backfires, and years later he has to become the Devil's bounty hunter to stop the Devil's son from getting too much power.
good performances and some very funny humor and even a good moral message at the end really help make the movie stand out. add to that the proper use of cg and not overdoing it throughout the entire movie is also nice.
Sam Elliot was great in his role, though any comic book fan would know immediately who he was due to the name of the renegade Ghost Rider.
