Heard about it. How effective? Drawbacks?

It's good, but you have to know what you are doing for sure. It sort of works for me, whatever I have is pernicious. But i have to get the 'puter wiped next week, so it's really a moot point.

Indeed, it's funny that an open source browser is far less targeted than Internet Exploder. Hackers just looove MS.
Another thing to do to surf safely is to turn off Java and Javascripts as it is the scripts that will likely launch an attack. It might be a pain to turn javascript back on to look at certain things in certain pages, but I think it's worth it.

Mozilla helps immensely, and AdAware is actually quite accurate. Many alleged "spyware killers" dectect false positives in an effort to get you to buy their junk programs. AdAware was rated as one of the better free programs. Improving on it means you'd have to pay for one. I did some research, and found that probably the best freeware is Spyware Blaster, which actually blocks spyware before it ends up on your drive, and you can update it manually anytime you want. Link: www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.htmlI run Spyware Blaster, Spybot Search & Destroy, and AdAware in conjuction with Mozilla, and I haven't detected any spyware since doing so. With Internet Explorer, I came up with spyware 9 times out of 10, with high security settings to boot.

i have that program as well, and it's really nice. the one thing i have problems with is the Trojan virus, which is not a virus but spyware. it's hard to get rid of. that and javabyte, they suck.
