i couldn't wait, picked it up on the way TO work. so it's sitting here, in front of me until i get home tonight. great booklet though, probably one of the most interesting ones out there, due to Damon's unique prose style. gotta love that! more when i get home and watch!

I remember there were supposed to be a lot of extras. But now it seems like there's the trailer and an image gallery? Is that it (besides the booklette)? I should have it in the next couple of days.

i'll let you know- i heard there were 41 minutes of trailers, but it doesn't say that. while i like extras, the important thing to me is the movie.
there will be a review later on tonight!

well, it's easy enough- just get the disc. it's well worth it.
there are lots of trailers- about 47 minutes. only a few were interesting to me, and they didn't even have the US trailer for INFRA-MAN, but that's just a minor quibble. the movie looks great, as one would expect. the US dub is nice, there's an audio dropout or two, but compared any other US release, this is just great.
there's an interview with the director (which i haven't watched) and a nicely done booklet.
just get it!

I got it! Just waiting for UPS to get it to my quivering, anticipating little claws. ;D
All I had previously was Celestial Pictures VCD, which though nicely produced for a VCD was still just a VCD. And this IS one of my favorite action movies ever, so I had to get the R1!

Ok, first off, I'm not usually into trailers but these are really fun and also really high quality. It seems that trailers attached as DVD extras tend to look like 8mm prints found in some granny's humid and dusty basement, but these are pristine. Great stuff. The movie is of course great and it's so wonderful to see it at a high resolution and with the english dub! I haven't seen it with English audio since I saw the movie in the theatre back in the 70s. For me Super Inframan is like the HK action version of My Neighbor Totoro. Meaning I can pop it in every couple of months and not only never get tired of it but watch with giddy happiness and awe and wonder. Unfortunately my wife feels that way about Totoro, but not so much for the ol' Inframan. I haven't had a chance to read the booklet yet but did read Auggie's bio in the liner notes and it gives away a "top secret" book project he's been working on for years. That'lll be interesting to see when he finishes it!

it appears that Brenner was not used in the making of this disc, which would account for the lesser audio quality of the US dub and the lack of the US theatrical and tv spots for the movie.
i wonder why he didn't participate.

i wonder why he didn't participate. It was because Brenner thinks of the film as his. He's been fighting bootleggars for years over the film and he wasn't happy that someone else got the rights to the movie. He honestly thinks it's his film, and went so far as to tell Image he would take them to court if they tried to use the English dub track he had or the trailers. Image could have used the trailers, as they are not copywrited, but the didn't want to go through all the trouble involved. They did come to him and talk about it, but he was honestly an ass about the whole thing.

thanks for that info- we had speculated such. it's too bad about the trailers, but i'm quite happy with the disc. i wish he could have participated, but if he's gonna be an ass, well, why bother?
welcome here, by the way!

I still laugh when watching this with my son for the first time because he thought it was old school Sentai/Power Rangers!

Growing up in the middle of Missouri, I still find it amazing that I saw this in it's US theatrical run in the 70s. When the bug monster is thrown into the power plant and shrinks back to human sized and gets stepped on, squirting out green goo everywhere, that just tripped me out. Seeing that sort of craziness on the big screen was amazing.
