did he never play heroes? seems like i've seen him do that, but i could be confusing him with the also awesome legfighter Tan Tao Ling. good review.

He played a hero twice to my knowledge. The first was in his directorial debut Hitman in the Hand of Buddha, another classic. The other was in Innocent Interloper, with girls n' guns actress Elaine Lui.

'Twas ''DEMON STRIKE'' I was referring to(sorry for not specifying...)The Xenon VHS was fullscreen ,but as a HUGE fan of Leung KarYan a.k.a. Beardy I really enjoyed it;as for Hwang JangLee-the man rules in ANY projecy he's a part of(I'd have LOVED to see Hwang&Tan TaoLiang square off in a cinematic bootmaster showdown!)

another great review. do you have a home page listing of all your reviews? you should include it in the review, in case we want to refer back to your other reviews.
just a thought!

Check it out. www.angelfire.com/ca5/blake/heroesw.htmlOh Megs, I have put homepage references on all the reviews/articles as you suggested. Thanks for the tip. Let me know what you all think.

This movie is available on DVD for about $15 or less at any Best Buy or related place. The reviews might wane a bit in the next few months or so, but I'll do my best to find something to review and place on the page.

the fight in the pachinko parlor is filmed the same way Wong Kar Wai films things, slow, then fast. i believe his hit movie THE ASHES OF TIME was out then, and that's why Sammo had it done that way.
i saw this in it's original form, once, way back in the 90s- i was thoroughly bored by it. 2 fights in 110 minutes... zzzzzzzzzzzzz. it HAD to run better at 90. just had to. but i've never wanted to see it again, so i'll never know!
one of the main differences between Jackie and Sammo is that Jackie never actually BEATS the villains in his movies- they fall down, or something happens to them. Sammo makes sure the villains are completely done, whether dead or in jail.
good review!
David
