finally got to see this movie. very interesting. i like some of it, but mostly it makes me want to watch all the movies he ripp- er, paid homage to.
the Bride is NOT very virtuous- she's not out to stop the assassins because of any noble reason- just revenge. she WAS one. Uma tries, but her kung fu is not very good at all, especiall compared to her teacher, Pai Mei (that was Gordon Liu, right?). also weird to see Pai Mei as a sympathetic figure, since he was always THE villain in Shaw movies.
still, QT makes a fun if weird movie. the worst part for me wasn't the excessive blood, but the far grosser sound effects.

I found the scenes that I watched fairly enjoyable. They were very bloody and over-the-top, but they weren't bad. I know the idea for the film was both Quentin's and Uma's, so you can't blame her too much for not looking as good; it was a dream-realizing experience for her. What disappointed me was the cut scene from vol. 2 involving Michael Jai White. It was both short and poorly utilized White's skills, which is disappointing considering Woo-Ping's talents.

watching v.1 again, which is the better of the two. but really, this is "witty and hip" dialog? QT is pretty overrated.

I also felt part 1 the better of the two. QT's dialogue was better in his earlier films, like Resevoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, and even Dusk till Dawn. I guess He worked harder at it when he was struggling....alot like stephen king. QT really started losing it when he did jackie brown. The two things I liked in part 2 were this: Learning how that one assasin lost her Eye from the master, and the final confrontation between the bride and Bill.
