Chia Hui Liu .... Yang No. 5 Sheng Fu .... Yang No. 6 Li-Li Li .... Yang Matriarch Kara Hui .... Yang No. 8 (as Ying Hung Wai) Ching-Ching Yeung .... Yang No. 9 Lung Wei Wang .... Yeh Li-Lin Chen-Peng Chang .... Yang No. 7 Ging Chue .... Abbot Tiet Wo Chu .... Ying Kuei Hou Hsiao .... Yang No. 4 Phillip Ko .... Abbot Ming Ku .... Pan Mei Suet-Wah Lau
Chia-Liang Liu .... Hunter Chia Yung Liu .... Yang No. 2 Te-Lo Mai .... Yang No. 3 Yue Wong .... Yang No. 1 Tak Yuen .... Servant
AND THAT list leaves out lots of guest appearances. my old VHS tape had them listed, as they showed up on the screen, but this DVD does not, well, not in English anyway.
what a movie- easily gorier than any of Chang's masterpieces, it's pretty much non-stop action. General Pan Mei betrays the Yang Spear clan and has them all killed, except two brothers don't. one is Fu Sheng, who died while the filming of movie was taking places, so i'm assuming the ending had to be re-written a bit.
Gordon Liu goes to a monastery and trains pole fighting to help get revenge.
i didn't care for this one the first time i saw it, but this time i quite enjoyed it.

I saw the finale to this one. It's out of this world! Wonderful one vs. many weapons choreography. It's very violent, like you said. And the part with the "defanging the wolves"...that's just crazy!

Just got done watching this. It's a great movie, easily one of Lau Kar-Leung's best films (and one of Shaw Brothers' best as well). The acting/dubbing is a bit over-the-top, but man, the action was top drawer by classic kung fu standards. I think someone said that the movie was one classic fight after another, which is essentially true. Anyways, I wasn't disappointed, although the ending was really a downer.
