oh man- i just got this set. it's amazing and i haven't seen any of the matches. they have done SO well with this. it's amazing the wwe can do this so well, when their current product is, er, not so great.

i highly recommend it!

I haven't seen this yet, and with all the work done on the van and catching up on bills I will get this, but it will have to wait. This DVD set and the Superstars of the 80s set are for my Birthday/Father's Day but I'll get them whenever.

Chad, you will love this. i watched the entire first disc this afternoon. the last bunch of stuff is mostly promos for the next matches on the second DVD but they do have that AWA video.

i'm just amazed at how well the WWE does these DVD sets. i hope it's very successful.

Animal still engages in some kayfabe during his commentary. it's kind of funny.

Crystal got it for me today(She borrowed some money from my Bro to get it). Man, it is an awesome set. I only hvae a couple of gripes. I wish they had put the first Wargames match on it, because that was the LOD at their brutal best, I have it, but wish non-LOD nuts like us could see it. I also wish they'd have shown their return to the WWF in 1997 because the crowd went absolutely nuts for them. I also wish they would have shown their debut as LOD2000 from Wrestlemaniaq 14 because the reception they got, and the loud chanting of LOD are still kind of my "F-U" moments for Vince who whized all over their legacy. It showed people still loved them and always will. All in all it is a great set. It is a nice sampling of the LOD from the various stages of their careers. I really liked seeing their match against the Briscos. I see what you meant about Animal kind of Fabing, but it seems as time went on he was a little less so with his comments. I so wish I could Bogart one of those old Title belts Animal has. For non LOD fans, they got to see these guys at their rawest from Georgia, the AWA, and NWA. I had not seen the Hawk Tribute before and I battled a little melancholy when watching it. For those that don't have this, get it. I won't say it is definative, but it has all their World Title Wins and gives a very good representation of how prolific these guys were.

yeah, to be a definative set it would really need a few more angles from Georgie, some more Japan stuff- about another 3 hours worth. and they should talk to Bundy and Jake, and perhaps Greg Gagne, if not Verne.

they should show the cage match between them and Hayes and Garvin, since Animal and Michael could do commentary for that one.

the Wargames will show up somewhere, sometime. it would have been great to have the first one and the one with the MX and Doc as well, i like that one a lot.

i too, got a little teary about the tributes that were shown. that was really well done. they did show a few clips of the LOD 2000 response and the return to RAW, but not enough really. like you said, not the ultimate set. but i think one more disc would have done it.

they should have asked us!

I promise you this, I have one of the, if not the best collection of their matches from Japan. I have stuff of their's from All Japan, SWS, New Japan, Battlarts, World Japan, and Zero One. I am very surprised they didn't talk to All Japan for at least one match. Their match where they teamed with Johnny Ace against Kenta Kobashi, Jun Akiyama, and Hakushi. Then again, it would have also been cool to have one match with them and Power Warrior as well. I don't mean to sound like I am complaining, because it is very well done. They might be able to talk to Greg about them, but Verne from what I hear, is suffering from Alzheimers or something that affects his memory. I see your Zeo_max Zoom Dweebs line made it in there.

nice to get the Hogan/Tenryu match though. you forget how well Hogan could move around in a ring 14 years ago.

I finally got to watch the Documentary on Disc One and all I can say is wow. The only thing I don't think they touched on was just how huge Internationally Hawk and Animal were. I also didn't like how they glossed over the popularity of the Hellraisers. They were super popular, and no, they weren't the Road Warriors, they were a dominant team in their own right.

i was at Fry's the other day and noticed in the wrasslin' section there were several UPW DVDs, and the one that had John "The Protoype" Cena's last match in the UPW also had a Road Warriors vs HardKore match.
yes, i was tempted to buy it. but i didn't.
