Vampiro is stepping out of the ring to devote himself full time to promoting lucha libre in the city of Merida Yucatan. He said it would be too difficult for him to run a wrestling promotion full time and being a pro wrestler at the same time.Vampiro says he will also be doing a tv show for MTV which encompasses wrestling and music which is set to air some time in the summer.

The guy always seemed to stretch the truth about his non-wrestling accomplishments so I'll believe him on MTV when I see it. I felt he was pretty good but misused by WCW. I hear his feud with Konan was one of the biggest money makers in Lucha history. Why exactrly do those two seem to legit hate each other?

Egos.Though many agree the ego issue is more of Konnan's problem.Simply put when both of these guys were the big stars that they were Vampiro was SO MUCH more over than Konnan whom many fans and lucha writers wrote off as a whiner after losing his mask to Perro Aguayo.Konnan has rubbed alot of people the wrong way in lucha all in an effort to get himself a main event status.

WSX has finally made air on MTV. I remember reading an interview where Vampiro said the whole idea for the show was his and it was his show. So far that appears to be untrue, but he is their first Champ. I know these matches were filmed like a year ago, so if MTV does order more WSX would Vampiro come out of retirement?

it appears that MTV isn't too happy with WSX.They pulled one episode already and the exec that green lighted the series is no longer employed at MTV.So the death bell may be ringing for the WSX.

It doesn't look like old Vampior is retiring. This is from the Puroresu Power site:

Wrestlers who say they will retire and actually stay retired are alot rarer than a copy of ACTION COMICS ISSUE ONE in prestine condition.
