Juan Manuel Rodriguez or better known to wrestling fans as Bestia Salvaje died at 7:30 this morning to what is believed as complications from liver disease. Bestia had just turned 46 in February and has been very sick for the past few weeks in his home of Guadalajara and his last known booking was in January also in Guadalajara. Bestia debuted on 6/12/83 at the same building that he had has last known match at Arena Jalisco in Guadalajara and had a very solid career as one of the top rudos in the 90’s. Bestia’s best successes were in tag teams as he held the Mexican National Tag Titles with Pierroth, the CMLL Tag Titles twice with Scorpio Jr., and the CMLL Trios Titles with Emilio Charles Jr. & Sangre Chicana. Bestia was also part of the glue that held EMLL together in the mid 90’s as AAA went on a surge of popularity and his feuds with Ringo Mendoza, Mano Negra, & Hector Garza were very solid. His greatest feud though was with Scorpio Jr. against Hijo del Santo & Negro Casas although being a key part of the Santo rudo turn angle was also a shining moment but back to the former, their hair/masks match at Arena Mexico on 3/19/99 was one of the best matches of the decade in that building. Bestia and the unmasked Scorpio Jr. then adopted the newly turned rudo Shocker and formed the original Los Guapos, which became one of the top rudo stables of the next 3 years. After the breakup of Los Guapos and the aftermath of 9/11/01, Bestia would form Los Talibanes with Scorp & Emilio Charles Jr. and had a good mid-card run for the next couple of years before fading into the spotlight and eventually leaving EMLL to become an independent contractor. Bestia had started back working for IWRG and was always rumored to be joining AAA for the last couple of years but sadly it never happened. Descanse en Paz El Terror de Jalisco.
