this was on many people's "want" list for years, until Something Weird brought out the video under the "HOT" title, which was exactly the same movie as it was under the "SPIDER" title, mostly dispelling the myth of one having more nudity than the other one.
it's OK, but not great.
exotic dancers get stranded on an island where their manager gets bitten by a large spider and changes into some kind of spider-man, who then never attacks the girls until two other men show up. eventually, he drowns in quicksand.
worth a look.

I just watched this about a month or so ago(the Alpha disc which has the SPIDER ISLAND title) and totally agree. It's basically a scantilly clad girls on a tropical island movie with a little bit of monster stuff throw in. Not that that's a bad thing mind you! It has an awesome early 60s jazz score, great looking babes, the spider man monster was neat with decent make-up and the mutant spider that bites him is genuinely creepy! They used some kind of disturbing little hand puppet that through the combination of the way it moves and the weird look of it really creeped me out! I don't like spiders very much anyways. Overall, i enjoyed the movie quite a bit.

I have this on DVD with 2 other foreign films. The description of this film on the box way off and makes the film sound better than it is.
I suspect the English dubbing was less than accurate. After killing one woman he really waited 28 days before killing two more people?
Mike Blackwood: There's absolutely no reason yet to fear the worst. Until now, we only know that the plane caught fire and we've lost radio contact.

it's not a great movie- the man spider just disappears for a great deal of the movie, and the girls run around with no real sense of fear.
the spider is indeed creepy!

Was there actually any female nudity in this film?

Just some backs on the DVD I have. Example, woman takes a shower with her back to camera. When she turns she holds shirt over her chest.

I have a strong feeling that a "nude" version of the film was also made much like the case of the Paul Naschy films or SANTO IN DRACULA'S TREASURE but most likely it no longer exists or no one thinks that a nude version of this film is worth tracking down. And quite frankly I would agree.

I was thinking along those exact same lines. There's probably a euro version with some nudity that may or may not exist anymore. I wonder if there are any German dvds of this out?

it seems like this one doesn't have any nudie parts- i doubt there is one that exists. much like the "color" version of MERMAIDS OF TIBURON, which is also spozed to have exposed boobies.

I saw this for the first time recently after getting this collection from Best Buy for $6.99 => www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7543688&type=product&id=1481717Here is a link with a list of the films on the set => www.bestprices.com/cgi-bin/vlink/777966898896.html?id=Cw3qQLstThat's a lot of madness for 7 bucks. Anyhow, I enjoyed HORRORS OF SPIDER ISLAND. Pretty crazy, fun flick - it's out there. My copy has a scene where the gals are apparently skinny-dipping, but the it's photographed from a distance so you don't really see anything. That spider is a weird one, but creepy in its own way. I also liked the makeup on the manager/spiderman, whenever it showed up.

The movie's enjoyable enough. It's hard to argue with women in skimpy clothes getting all hot and sweaty for 80 minutes.
