So far it rocks. I loved the show when it came on the first time. It came on fox though so most of my tapes of it are pretty crappy due to reception here in the country. My only complaint is that it's only volume one and it has 28 episodes of the 85 on it. And none of the ones with Batgirl there are a few with Robin. These were the episodes that were more focused towards the Batman angle though. I'm looking forward to the rest. Hopefully there will be a Batman Beyond set also.

I THINK there was only 85 over two seasons worth, but I should go look it up. I was thinking they were gonna release the whole thing, but eh. Saves money this way in the short-term.
Do they have any of the early episodes with Babs? 'Cause I don't think she becomes Batgirl until well into the run of the original 65, probably near the end.
Not perfect, but still my favorite superhero cartoon series. And I would imagine they will all get the treatment sooner or later.

I didn't think she showed up at all until the second season. It was mostly Batman, with some Robin. I liked this style much more than the bulky, blocky style it got turned in to later on. I think the first season is 60 episodes, then the next was 25. Then I lost track.

Well actually, in terms of production, there were 65 produced originally. There were something like 5 that didn't air until quite some time later. Then, there were 20 more produced with the style altered somewhat. I actually prefer that look myself, as it is closer to the originally intention of that style.

finally picked up this set, and danged if i haven't gotten so used to the newer sleeker/blockier style that this now looks a bit soft to me! it was interesting listening to the commentary of the first episode though.
the voices aren't quite the same either, as they evolved a bit. dang they are good stories though! i was also surprised to see Robin in search an early episode. didn't remember that.
and can it really have been 1992 that these aired originally?

picked up the next three seasons today- on sale at Best Buy for $17.99, and i had $25 GC, so got 'em for less than $10 each! what a deal!
they did the mirror thing from the 89 movie in the Two Face episode. this is pretty much the only version of Batman i wanna see now- i mean, currently. there sure is a subtle sense of physical comedy humor going on here, though. especially in the fight scenes.
and damn, there is A LOT of psychological subtext going on in this here Two Face two parter. i mean, dang.

It does come loaded with surprisingly deep storylines. Also, even though a lot of the inbetween work isn't that strong, the animation posing and keyframes are incredible. A lot of the nuance from the body gestures down to the hand poses are stuff that animators love to see.

just watching "Tyger, Tyger" which is just a great episode. the second season (still technically part of the first season) is very good. do they have the actual "Adventures of Batman and Robin" on the other season?

"Shadow of the Bat" parts 1 AND 2
Kevin Conroy ... Bruce Wayne / Batman (voice) Loren Lester ... Dick Grayson / Robin (voice) Efrem Zimbalist Jr. ... Alfred Pennyworth (voice) Bob Hastings ... Commissioner James Gordon (voice) Jane Alan ... Summer Gleeson (voice) (as Mari Devon) Greg Burson ... Mad Dog (voice) Robert Costanzo ... Det. Harvey Bullock (voice) Melissa Gilbert ... Barbara Gordon / Batgirl (voice) Tim Matheson ... D.A. Gil Mason (voice) Lynette Mettey ... Assistant D.A. Janet Van Dorn John Vernon ... Rupert Thorne (voice)
just thought i'd review an episode or two of this great series. in this one, Commissioner Gordon is framed by an unknown villain. he's thrown in jail and Batman goes undercover to help his friend.
meanwhile, deciding the city needs a "Bat" Barbara Gordon dons the costume. she and Robin eventually meet up, and it all comes together at the end.
of course, when Gordon is asked about the mysterious Batgirl he says she's welcome to stay. Bruce and Dick are there, and Bruce looks right at Babs. he knows- no one else may have put the red hair together with Batgirl...
i'm on the record as hating what DC did with Babs in the comics, so i love seeing her in this show. they of course did it very well by introducing her in the first season, and showing how resourceful she was in those episodes ("I Am The Night" and "Heart of Steel"). great stuff here, as always.

These were awesome cartoons. Great visual style with awesome backgrounds, compelling stories, and characters with depth. Sadly they have simplified these Batman cartoons and they lost some of their sophisticated/noir charm. I may have to pick these sets up too.

i like the fact they kept the "Adventures of Batman and Robin" titles as well, for the second season. boy i hate Bane, though the cartoon version is better than the comics.

i've decided i really like The Riddler in this series. they did a good job on not making each criminal nutso like the Joker. it's too bad that Catwoman never did reform. Adrienne did such a good job, in fact, all the voice actors are amazing.
