Robin beyond? Are you reffering to the recent ep where the future Bats learns he is the genetic son of Bruce Wayne?
Yeah that one was a bit of a stretch.Actually I think the series was supposed to end after the whole Braniac/Luthor/Cadmus but they still had one more episode they needed to give to CARTOON NETWORK so they came up with this.JLU is now in reruns and remains to be seen wether it woill be picked up for a third[?] season.

i call him "Robin Beyond" because with Bruce still alive, he's just another Robin, albeit in a bat suit. there's even a line in one of the episodes where he tells Terry "none of the other Robins complained" which is what triggered the thought for me.

By the way,one of this weekend's episodes of JLU will have Supergirl returning to the origianl blue and red uniform, and not that crappy chearleaderesque outfit she's been wearing in the cartoons the past few years.

Ok need any more reasons to watch JLU?Last night Supergirl,GL,Stargirl and Machine Man battled a giant fire breathing turtle that could fly via jets coming out of it's shell in Downtown Tokyo before going to a Pellucidar like center of the Earth to battle a dictator who alligned himself with Metallo and Silver Banshee. Then in the second episode Wonder Woman was dresssed in civies but spun around ala Lynda Carter to reveal her super suit and Green Arrow hummed his own theme music. Why aren't you all watching?!?!?!?!?
By the way it isn't on next week but new episodes are on the way.

i've been really enjoying these episodes. if Supergirl would get rid of the stupid open mid-riff now- between her and Stargirl having the same "style"- she would look great. i think the tin man is S.T.R.I.P.E. but someone else will know.
really a violent cartoon, though. gotta love the Legion Of Doom though. this really makes up for the Stuperfriends of my youth (so there, all you people who think i only like old cartoons! ).

I really like JLU. Did they cancel it? It is nice getting to see alot of these characters in cartoon form. Batman Beyond was okay in theory, but IMO it was just DC's answer to the 2099 series of books Marvel put out.

I do believe STRIPE is in the show. He's Stargirl's stepfather and, of course, the original Star-Spangled Kid's partner Stripesy. Stargirl was originally a new Star-Spangled Kid in a short-lived series from a few years ago.

yeah, they were there in the Gamera episode- well, it was Skartaris, really- but they even got her to be as obnoxious as she was in the comic!
good show.

just picked up JL seaon 2, i've seen some of these episodes, like the one i'm watching now, the Vandal Savage episode "Maid of Honor" but still pretty darn good. this show reminds me just WHY i love super hero teams so much.
too bad Marvel couldn't produce an Avengers like this.

man, i had forgotten "the Terror Beyond" was a Defenders vs JL vs Cthulu episode. it's so funny to hear Grundy talk like the Hulk- stupid fishman, stupid magician. what a great episode. it's so nice to see characters that haven't gone through 986 permutations to keep them "hip and cool and dark and gritty". it can be all sorts of stories- and they keep a great balance.

Interesting you should mention Grundy talking like Hulk.He was voiced by Lou Ferrigno.

i did some research about that, but couldn't find that Lou did Grundy's voice- but never trust Wikipedia?
anyway, i got the DVD set today (26 episodes) and i am so loving it. there are so many superheroes and so many nice little touches for us lifelong comic book nerds, and even other fun stuff (Circe does a nice Wicked Witch homage, even!) that it's just great.
i quite enjoy the understated romance between Bruce and Diana. in retrospect it seems like such an obvious thing, but it'll never happen in the comics.
the good thing about having 70 years of comic stories is that they can pick and choose the best, and then adapt them. they did a Superman birthday story adapted by an Alan Moore story that was quite good.
of course, they better be paying the Kirby estate - Circe is almost a dead ringer for Sersi, and there's some other stuff- like the Annihilator being a direct clone of the Destroyer. they also really like some Ditko creations- Hawk and Dove, the Question (who's oh so very Rorschach in at least this first episode
the worst thing about these DVDs is that i'm watching ALL of them, since they are so good. that keeps me up way too late.
"always leave 'em wanting more!"
