now that i've watched a good chunk of this DVD, i'm surprised at how much i enjoy it. it's not anything great, but it's fun in a strange sort of way. i did some checking and found this Dastardly and Muttley site to enjoy- www.hotink.com/wacky/dastrdly/ . it didn't say how many episodes were produced, but it couldn't be more than 20 or 30, as that was about the usual run for a kid's show at the time. i'll do some more digging and see what i can find out. OK, it looks like there are 17 episodes, 2 per show, along with "wing dings" (silly silly jokes) and "Muttley the Magnificent" (Muttley daydreaming in silly situations). i didn't ever see this in it's original run, only in syndication back in WV on the glorious Channel 20, WDCA. my brother and i thought it was really a funny show. it's really a CORNY show, but it's fun. Dick Dastardly's car, the Mean Machine shows up in a few episodes, which was a nice touch. i know that The Wacky Races have been released on DVD, but i'm really not thinking this will ever show up legit. one of the best parts about the show is that there is no laugh track! i hate those with a passion, since they usually try to make you laugh with the lamest parts of a cartoon. and most H-B toons seemed to have them in abundance, it seemed to me- Scooby Don't suffers from that.

Dastardly and Muttley in their Flying Machine
Muttley, you snickering, floppy eared hound. When courage is needed, you're never around. Those medals you wear on your moth-eaten chest Should be there for bungling at which you are best.
So, stop that pigeon Stop that pigeon Stop that pigeon Stop that pigeon Stop that pigeon Stop that pigeon Stop that pigeon Howwww!
Nab him Jab him Tab him Grab him Stop that pigeon now.
You, Zilly, stop sneaking, it's not worth the chance. For you'll be returned by the seat of your pants. And Clunk, you invent me a thingamabob That catches that pigeon or I lose my job.
So, stop that pigeon Stop that pigeon Stop that pigeon Stop that pigeon Stop that pigeon Stop that pigeon Stop that pigeon Howwww!
Nab him Jab him Tab him Grab him Stop that pigeon now.

he always got threatened with that job loss, but it never happened. i still wonder why they had all those resources to stop Yankee Doodle Pigeon, and never had a gun... ah well, kids shows, not meant to be logical!

The show still turns up on tv here from time to time. You're right though, it's pretty corny but still fun. I always thought Muttley was the smartest one on the show. ;D Mind you, it's probably one of the few HB cartoons I can still watch nowadays. Hong Kong Phooey was the best, though.

Another GREAT link-thanks,David! 8-)Was cool to see Paul Winchell's own website linked there,as well(are there any websites devoted to the late Don Messick? He was Hanna-Barbera's ''go-to'' man, voicing high-profile characters like Dr.Benton Quest,Scooby Doo,Mutley,Ranger Smith&Papa Smurf as well as supportig characters like Klunk&Zilly not to mention ornery old coots such as occasionally showed up on episodes of ''SCOOBY DOO''.Oddly enough,I always thought the old codgers Messick voiced sounded like some oldsters from around here.Well, turns out Messick lived a good portion of his younger years in Salisbury!)
Yat dan,yee lik,sam gung fu!

kids didn't go around solving mysteries, they treated old coots with respect and we LIKED it!
cool info about Don Messick. i'm sure there have to be some websites devoted to him, he was quite a talented man.

picked it up today. not too much in the way of extras, but a lot of fun. they have like 5 cartoons per episode, which is quite fun.
now, to get the other ones!

a little Pigeon goes a long way, though, since they are all essentially the same episode. i can see why they are not meant to be watched more than once a week!
