I think what irritates me the most is most of the other movies from that era were just as ignorant racially and none get taken to task like this one. I'd like to get it, I remember the film fondly from my youth, and seeing as how I haven't seen it in a decade or two I don't remember it being anymore racist than say Gone With the Wind.

it's odd. disney is just after money, that's all i can figure. it'll be more popular than they think though.

got me- but then i'm not black. Uncle Remus was the smartest person in the movie. perhaps it's the way they were portrayed talking. i dunno.
the fact that disney allowed it to be shown in Japan and England proves to me that they were just paying lip service to the whole sensitive to race issue. they are just in it for the money (no surprise there!).
