finally, a good US DVD version- i had a boot of the German release which was the only way to see it widescreen until now.
good adaption of a fine book- a lone Unicorn steps out of her enchanted forest to find out if the world is empty now of unicorns. her quest leads her to some human friends and enemies, and finally to the lair of the Red Bull (which does not require wings).
good voice acting, good animation all overcome the dopey America songs, which are servicable, maybe, for 1974, but this could have been served better by some other band. no biggie, they are not really the focus of the movie. IT'S a way better adaption than the HOBBIT movie was, done by the same company.

I always liked this film a lot.
There's only one thing I am curious about: Are they still censoring the language to get the G rating?
In the last (full-screen) US DVD release, in the scene where Molly Grue meets up with the Unicorn the first time and curses her for not appearing sooner, the "Damn you" was dropped from the dialogue track entirely... you see Molly Grue's lips moving but no words, then, "where have you been??"
I think there was one other moment where they dropped a bit of dialogue out of the soundtrack, and I understand this was done because they had to re-submit the film to the MPAA and the cuts were needed to retain the G rating.
I would be sad if this was still the case, especially with a cool widescreen version of the film. I would want to see the real movie that was made and not a trimmed down version.
The previous videotape releases featured the lines intact.
