members, i just finished and enjoyed watching this series with my son. he asked me [soon as the dvd was over] is there more? what i watched came from the 1980's i believe and was 12 episodes on 2 dvds. i think there is a current guyver, i found some for almost 30 bucks a dvd! can anyone review this or let me know how it compares to the original before i shell out the dinero----thanks, ralph g

Guyver is one of my favorite anime series! There is also an older one shot OVA from before the 12 part series -this was done around 1985 while the 12 part series was in 1989/91. The newer series, from what I've heard, is quite good and actually tells the complete story-the 12 part series didn't sell that well in japan and the next batch of episodes was cancelled. Guyver was apparently more popular over here than in japan! I would guess that the newer series is probably less violent and bloody as it was a TV series(the 12 parter was an OVA-straight to video-series so could be as violent as they wanted). I would also wait about 6 months or so because ADV usually drops the prices of series dramatically after their initial release! I bought DEVIL LADY , ROBOTECH and MAZINKAISER that way and paid about 60% less than the original price! I'm waiting for them to drop the price on the GATCHAMAN and MACROSS sets right now.
