I got my Godzilla Final Wars DVD last Saturday and it came with the soundtrack. I've yet to watch the movie, but I'll do so this week. I've listened to the soundtrack quite a few times. Weird...all of the usual orchestrated pieces are switched for more synthetic (?) music...hip hop, techno, and rock themes are more apparent. It works as a separate listening experience, but I don't know how well it be in the movie.

definately a weird musical choice. i'm no prog-rock fan at all, but i liked Emerson's score for the most part. could have been the disonant stuff Otani did for GMK.

Why would you listen to the music before watching the movie?
Just asking.

I want my wife to have the honor of watching this movie with me. She's been busy with a project for college so she hasn't had the time to watch it. We're shooting for Tuesday.
Listening to the music, some pieces seem appropriate for video games, one track (Back in Action) seems like a blaxploitation piece, etc. The first five tracks have the typical kaiju spirit, the rest goes off in other directions.

Hmm...you shall pay for you negligence...Mo Ying Geuk!!! (no-shadow kick).
Here's a question, did you all find the score to G. vs. Biollante all that revolting? I actually liked it for the most part.

well, it does sound a lot like a US Star Wars style score, but it's not the worst Godzilla soundtrack i've heard.

I'll venture to say that the only G sountracks I didn't like (for the most part) were Godzilla 2000 and G vs. Hedorah (Richiro Manabe [sp.] improved a bit on Godzilla vs. Megalon).

wow, it's usually Megalon people don't like from Manabe. me, i like 'em both. i don't care much for the GIGANTIS score, and really dislike GMK's stuff.

I watched G vs. Megalon (my 3rd Godzilla movie I believe) before Smog Monster so I thought the music (whiched I recognized) was far too slow. I liked a lot of GMK's stuff, but it got far too repetitive. I think Michiru Oshima is the best non-Ifukube composer.

Well, Godzilla Final Wars has grown on me to the point that it has become my favorite soundtrack as a separate listening experience. Although, to be honest, I don't have the SvSG or GXM soundtracks anymore (the CDs that I bought were faulty).

i just found my copy of this, and now that i have a CD player in the car, i should give it a listen. i liked the stuff OK, so perhaps as a CD it will be fun.

If it's not too late, can I get a copy of the GFW CD with the other stuff you're sending me? I was also pleasently surprised by the soundtrack and liked it better than the repetitive one Otani did for GMK.
