What I learned from watching disaster movies:
If the disaster is caused by bad men then the bad men will die in the disaster, unless they express regret in which case they may live.
If two strangers meet and fall in love during the disaster but do not say "I love you" or anything about making a future together then both may survive, if they do say "I love you" or talk about making a future together then one of them will die.
The odds of a husband and a wife both surviving the disaster are about 50-50.
In the 1970s there were a few politicians and corporate CEOs who were actually willing to put the welfare of others before their own. I think they've since died out having sacrificed themselves in natural or man made disasters.
Lovers who survive the disaster will be brought closer together.
Family who survive the disaster will be brought closer together.
Elevators are death traps.
Any building that has more than 7 floors is a death trap.
There is no such thing as an unsinkable ship, fireproof building, earthquake proof building.
If a door is hot to the touch there's a fire behind it, if it's cold the area behind it is flooded.
Airtight/watertight doors are only airtight/watertight for a limited amount of time and will eventually burst open, usually when somebody is standing in front of them.
Oxygen cylinders always run out of oxygen too soon.
Being wounded in the intial disaster greatly decreases your changes of surving until rescue comes.
If two people have to swim in an attempt to save others the person who claims to be the strongest swimmer will be the one to die in the attempt.
If the rescue involves water than many of the people who survived the disaster will drown during the rescue.
If before the disaster someone sings a love song then lovers are doomed to die. If the singer is male he's doomed as well.
If anyone panics a slap on the face will most likely calm them down, if it doesn't try a right cross.
The best disaster to be in involves airplanes. The majority of passangers will survive.
Any disaster will bring out the best qualities of most people, however, a few people will give into their worst characteristcs.
