The description on the DVD case is inaccurate and uses a phrase stolen from "The Magnificent Seven" trailers, "they were only 7 but they fought like 700". The DVD case claims they fought Rome but actually they fought a corrupt official of Sparta.
Darius, the son of the leader of Sparta is enslaved by the Roman Empire and made a gladiator. After helping five other gladiators to escape he's sentenced to death in the arena. Defeating his "executioners" he's granted his freedom (the Legionaries requested his freedom and the crowd gave thumbs up) on the condition that he return home. Upon arriving in Sparta he learns that his father has been murdered and his position usurped by the murderer. The father of Darius's fiancee helped the murderer by making the murder appear to be suicide. On the way to his fiancee's home Darius is attacked by four men. Livius, the son of his old nurse Ismere, appears to help him. One of the attackers flees with a wounded wrist. Darius forgets his father's sword. Dariu's father's killer finds the sword and uses it to murder the father of Darius' fiancee. When troops try to arrest Darius for the murder the officer in charge has a wounded wrist. Darius tries to tell his fiancee that he did not kill her father but she does not believe him. Dairus manages to escape. Darius finds the 5 men he freed from Rome and along with his nurse's son they agree to fight for him.
I have Gladiators 7 on a $1 DVD along with Invincible Gladiator.
