This is just a small thing. But I would like to relate a little memory of mine from the early 70's. We had at that time a little black battery-operated transistor radio, and I liked to take this radio outside and mess around in front of the house.
My first distinct memory of hearing a song on the radio? The Monster Mash. A fine warm sunlit day.
This was not around Halloween time, either...as I recall, the song was popular enough that it played intermittently, all the year round.
It was a good while before I ever laid eyes on an issue of Famous Monsters, either, but the message rang very true: Monsters are your friends. And in a strange way, that day, I felt I had made a friend in that song. RIP Bobby Pickett
