Kill Cruise (1990)
A West German film, the English translation of the original title is The Skipper.
Jürgen Prochnow - The Skipper
Patsy Kensit - Su
Elizabeth Hurley - Lou
Franz Buchrieser - Owner 'California'
Grazyna Szapolowska - Mona
Carmel S. Aquilina - Port Captain
Manuel Cauchi - 1. Official
John Suda - 2. Official
Elton Mamo - Boy in 'California'
Mario Stock - Paul Pelikan
John Ciantar - Waiter
Kimba - Willie, the dog
A sailboat owner becomes a hopepless drunk after his passanger is drowned in a storm and his wife who it turns out was having an affair with the man leaves him. Six month later boat's owner agrees to take two British women and a dog from Gilbrater to Barbados. It was interesting to see how three very different people handed being stuck together in the middle of the ocean. It only took one week for one of them to go completely insane.
In the English dubbed version the skipper insists on calling his boat a ship and there is some unnessary swearing.
There are two brief sex scenes one of which reveals the woman's right breast.
The ending of this film comes out of nowhere and makes no sense at all. Suddenly a perfectly sane person turns into a homicidial maniac, hence the renaming of the film to "Kill Cruise". I was strangely enough enjoying this slow moving film until the surprise ending which left me angry at the suddenly sloppy writing.
Jürgen Prochnow is better known for his role as the U Boat captain in "Das Boot".
$1 DVD, because of the abrubt and mindless ending worth about 25 cents. I haven't deciced yet whether to keep the DVD or pitch it like I did two other DVDs containing films so bad I didn't bother to post about them.
