Osamu Tezuka's yokai fighting manga DORORO has been translated by "Vertical". There are three volumes, with just the first one currently out. the 2nd comes out at the end of this month and the third later this year. Preview here.I thought I'd talked about it before on here but maybe not. Last year there was a DORORO live action movie which is now pretty easily available on dvd, the web, youtube, etc. Great movie, full of monster fighting goodness.I found the new translated manga on amazon for $11.

The movie I've watched online. Supposedly Universal has the distribution rights for the DVD, but I haven't heard anything about that in quite a while. Definitely a high quality movie worth picking up if it ever does come out on R1. The cartoon I've just seen one episode on youtube. I'm trying to swing getting the series box set.

The Universal R1 is showing up on Amazon now, with a release date of mid-September. Haven't seen any details on if there's any extras. Also, I happened across the original pilot movie used to sell the anime series. Though the series is black and white, the pilot was in color... quite a treat! No subs though, but if you've read the first translated manga it's pretty easy to follow since it encapsulates that book's storyline. part 1 mymedia.yam.com/m/863074part 2 mymedia.yam.com/m/863149

There's this little strip in the middle of the window that looks like a 'it's gone' notice but it's still there. Just click the arrow and it should play. There's about 30 seconds of black at the beginning.
