Technically a superior film in all aspects, however, after it was over all I was left with was what a completely joyless film it was. Looking for a fun superhero film? Keep looking.
Again, very well done by all parties, but I'd much rather watch Iron Man again than this depressing piece of work. Who knows, perhaps it will grow on me over time, like the ending of "The Mist" did. I will be picking it up next month when it comes out on DVD, but I prefer the previous entry to this one. Meh. Maybe it's just me.

It’s good. It’s probably the best of the Batman features (1989 to Present), but then again, I was not a fan of the Tim Burton films! I will say it is the best, but is it my favorite? Nah! Will always have my soft spot for the 1966 Adam West version! ;D

It's definitely a very well made and well written film, but it is very dark and depressing, not a feel-good fun superhero movie at all!! I did enjoy it, but I was not as impressed with Heath Ledger's Joker as everyone else seems to have been. He was psychotic enough, but not nearly as funny as he should have been! I was also very irked by the fact that he was just wearing make-up and had knife scars for his permanent smile rather than actual white skin and a gruesome facial disfigurement. Christian Bale's Batman is way too angry-whenever he talks he sounds like he's enraged, no matter what the setting. Frankly, I always loved Tim Burton's 1989 film. It was dark, but not too dark-true to the original Bob Kane version. Jack Nicholson had just the right balance of psychoticness and humor and Gotham city looked like a Gothic hell, not modern NYC.
