The Lost Crown: A Ghost-Hunting Adventure is a 3rd person adventure game created by Jonathan Boakes, creator of the Dark Fall series. The Lost Crown is not part of the Dark Fall series and is tame compared those games. Although there are ghosts, they are for the most part friendly, in fact you don't always realize that you are dealing with ghosts until later.
You are Nigel Danvers (voiced by Jonathan Boakes) . You "accidentally" accessed secret data belonging to you employer the Hadden Corporation and have gone on the run. You find yourself in small English village. Hearing about a lost treasure you decide to become a treasure hunter and end up becoming a ghost hunter in the process. Sometimes its obvious you are dealing with a ghost, sometimes its not. To aid you in your ghost hunting Mr. Hadden, whom it turns out is watching your every move, sends you a camcorder, digital camera. tape recorder and em meter.
There is a lot of walking back and forth in this game and although you find several maps they don't allow instant access to locations as in some games. Most locations in the game are based on real places actually visited by Jonathan Boakes. You interact with other characters, living and dead. Most of the questions you ask can be asked in any order. There are however a few times when you can only pick one of the several possible responses to other characters. Your inventory appears on the bottom of the screen and expands to hold everything you pick up. Some items are red hearings, you never use them. To keep your invetory from being cluttered you will place evidence (photos and audio tapes) on a table in your bedroom before ending the day. If you need to access any evidence again its always there. There is photography contest going on and you may enter any non-ghost photos you take in it. I'm not sure what happens if you don't take any. Winning the contest doesn't seem to have any effect on the over all plot.
The ending wraps everything up so there is no having to wait for a sequel that may never be made. The final scene does suggest further adventures for Nigel but a sequel would be a whole new story. I don't know if there will be another game featuring Nigel, Jonathan Boakes is currently working on the third Dark Fall game.
